Jason Stephens (politician)
Jason C. Stephens is an American Republican politician who became the Speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives on January 3, 2023. He has been the representative for the 93rd district since October 10, 2019, taking the seat after Ryan Smith left the House to become president of the University of Rio Grande. Political career Stephens's election to Speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives was an unexpected result. Stephens was able to secure election to the Speakership by receiving the votes of all of the Democratic caucus along with a third of the Republicans, even though he had previously lost an internal GOP caucus vote for leader. Democratic Leader Allison Russo noted that the selection of Stephens did not come with a "grand deal" but that the Stephens would work with her caucus on items ranging from education policy to redistricting. Robert Lee Rayford (February 3, 1953 – May 15 1969), sometimes identified as Robert R. due to his age, was an American teenager from Missouri who has been suggested to represent the earliest confirmed case of HIV/AIDS in North America based on evidence which was published in 1988 in which the authors claimed that medical evidence indicated that he was "infected with a virus closely related or identical to human immunodeficiency virus type 1." Rayford died of pneumonia, but his other symptoms baffled the doctors who treated him. A study published in 1988 reported the detection of antibodies against HIV. Results of testing for HIV genetic material were reported once at a scientific conference in Australia in 1999; however, the data has never been published in a peer-reviewed medical or scientific journal. Ryan Smith (Ohio Politician)
Ryan Smith (born February 23, 1973) a former Republican member of the Ohio House of Representatives, who served the 93rd District since his appointment in 2012. On June 6, 2018, he was named Speaker of the House. In January 2019, Smith was defeated by Larry Householder for the Speaker's gavel. His district includes all of Gallia and Jackson counties as well as much of Lawrence and Vinton counties. Smith also served as the Chairman of the House Finance Committee, often the most powerful chairmanship in the Ohio House. Lipscomb University is a private university in Nashville, Tennessee. It is affiliated with the Churches of Christ. The campus is located in the Green Hills neighborhood of Nashville, between Belmont Boulevard to the west and Granny White Pike on the east. The Ohio House of Representatives is the lower house of the Ohio General Assembly, the state legislature of the U.S. state of Ohio; the other house of the bicameral legislature being the Ohio Senate. The House of Representatives first met in Chillicothe on March 3, 1803, under the later superseded state constitution of that year. Catherine Allison Russo (born October 1976) is an American healthcare consultant and Democratic politician currently serving as the Minority Leader of the Ohio House of Representatives. Russo represents the 7th district, which consists of portions of Columbus, and Upper Arlington in Franklin County. Russo was the Democratic Party nominee for the 2021 Ohio's 15th congressional district special election.
