The Japanese School of Suzhou (JSS) is a Japanese international school in the Suzhou New District of Suzhou, China. On February 28, 2005, the Ministry of Education of China approved the establishment of the school. The current campus on Huahai Road (淮海路) in the Suzhou New District was scheduled to open in September 2012. The original campus, which opened in 2005, had a cost of 20 million yuan. Archive . The Suzhou New District () is one of the specially designated regions for technological and industrial development in China. The district covers an area of and is located west of Suzhou, in the Jiangsu province. The district is managed by the New High-Tech Industrial Company Ltd. Suzhou (; ; Suzhounese: ''sou¹ tseu¹'' , Mandarin: ), alternately romanized as Soochow, is a major city in southern Jiangsu province, East China. Suzhou is the largest city in Jiangsu, and a major economic center and focal point of trade and commerce.
