The International Paralympic Committee (IPC; german: Internationales Paralympisches Komitee) is an international non-profit organisation and the global governing body for the Paralympic Movement. The IPC organizes the Paralympic Games and functions as the international federation for nine sports. Absent at the inaugural Paralympic Games in 1960 in Rome, Japan made its Paralympic debut by hosting the 1964 Games in Tokyo.
