Janjira Janchome ( th, จันจิรา จันทร์โฉม), nicknamed Lukejan ( th, ลูกจัน) is a Thai model and beauty pageant titleholder who won Miss Thailand Universe 2002. Janchome was born and raised in Phitsanulok province by her parents. She received a bachelor's degree and master's degree from Kasetsart University in Bangkok. In 2015, she graduated with a PhD of Science form Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok. Pageantry Janchome was crowned Miss Thailand Universe on March 23, 2002, in Bangkok. She went on to compete unsuccessfully in the Miss Universe 2002 pageant held at Coliseo Roberto Clemente, San Juan, Puerto Rico, on May 29, 2002. Miss Thailand Universe 2002 was the 3rd Miss Thailand Universe pageant, held at Sofitel Centara Grand Bangkok in Bangkok on March 23, 2002. The 44 contestants arrived in Nakhon Pathom a week prior to participate in activities and returned to Bangkok to compete in the final round. Miss Universe 2002, the 51st Miss Universe pageant, was held on May 29, 2002, at the Coliseo Roberto Clemente in San Juan, Puerto Rico. 75 delegates competed in this year. Oxana Fedorova of Russia was crowned by Denise Quiñones of Puerto Rico as her successor at the end of the event. Fedorova was dethroned four months later, ostensibly because she could not travel to fulfill her duties, and first runner-up Justine Pasek of Panama took over the Miss Universe title. To date, the 2002 pageant is the only time the 1st runner-up has assumed the title when the reigning Miss Universe became incapable of fulfilling her duties, as explained in the disclaimer traditionally read out by hosts before announcing the winner in the live show.
