Goulbourn Township, Ontario, was formed in 1818, roughly 20 km southwest of downtown Ottawa, with the first major settlement occurring in Richmond, Ontario, Richmond. Shad Qadri
Shad Qadri (born September 7, 1952 in Pakistan) is a politician and businessman in Ottawa, Ontario. He was the councillor for Stittsville (Ward 6) from 2006 until 2018. Personal life Born in Pakistan, Qadri came to Ottawa in 1963. Prior to his entry in municipal politics, Qadri was a businessman and was involved in the community. He is involved in several special events that are held in the community including the Villagefest and Parade, the Christmas Parade of Lights, and Winterfest. He is involved in numerous charities and fundraisers. He is a former director and treasurer for the Western Ottawa Community Resource Centre. Goulbourn Ward
Stittsville (Ward 6) is a city ward in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, represented on Ottawa City Council. It consists of the community of Stittsville in suburban Ottawa. Prior to the 2006 election, the Ward was known as Goulbourn Ward which consisted of the former Goulbourn Township (including Stittsville and Richmond). The ward was altered in 2006, by losing all of the rural parts of Goulbourn (including urban Richmond) and gaining a tiny bit of the former city of Kanata around the Canadian Tire Centre. The ward was created when Goulbourn was amalgamated into Ottawa in 2000. It was known as Stittsville-Kanata West Ward until 2010. In 2014, the ward expanded to gain the newly built Blackstone subdivision from Rideau-Goulbourn Ward. Margaret Elizabeth Hill ( Dubois; May 12, 1937 – November 4, 2013) was a Canadian pre-amalgamation municipal politician in Ottawa, Ottawa, Ontario. She was the reeve of Richmond, Ontario and following amalgamation in 1974, was mayor of Goulbourn Township, Ontario until 1981. Munster, Ontario
Munster, Ontario (also known as Munster Hamlet) is a large village situated south-west of Stittsville, west of Richmond and north of North Gower. The total population, as of the 2016 Canadian Census was 939, a decrease of 24.4% from the 2011 Canadian Census figure of 1,242. Munster was established as a post office in the Goulbourn Township by 1866; Thomas Tubman served as postmaster. Since 1 January 2001, it has been a part of the City of Ottawa. This was part of a massive amalgamation, resulting in the various municipalities within the former Regional Municipality of Ottawa–Carleton combining to form the larger city that exists today. Richmond is a suburban community, part of the Canadian capital of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Founded in 1818, it spans the Jock River, a tributary of the Rideau River. The 2003 Ottawa municipal election was a municipal election that was held in Ottawa to elect the city's mayor, City Council, and school trustees for the city of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The vote was held on November 10, 2003. The elections were held simultaneously with most other municipalities in Ontario. The 2006 Ottawa municipal election was held on November 13, 2006, in Ottawa, Canada, to elect the mayor of Ottawa, Ottawa City Council and the Ottawa-Carleton Public and Catholic School Boards. The election was one of many races across the province of Ontario. See 2006 Ontario municipal elections. The race featured three main candidates: incumbent mayor Bob Chiarelli, former Kanata councillor Alex Munter and businessman Larry O'Brien (Canadian politician), Larry O'Brien. The race began as a fight between Chiarelli and Munter, with Munter getting the edge and 2003 candidate Terry Kilrea in a close third. Alexander Mathias Munter (born April 29, 1968) is the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), and a former elected official and business owner in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Advocacy Throughout his career, Munter has been at the forefront of numerous social change initiatives. In 2001, as head of the city of Ottawa's Health and Social Services Committee, he led the adoption of Canada's first big-city workplace and public place smoking ban on city council.
