Janek Õiglane
Janek Õiglane (born 25 April 1994 in Rakvere) is an Estonian athlete competing in the decathlon. He has represented Estonia five times at the World Athletics Championships, finishing 19th at the 2015 World Championships in Beijing, achieving 4th place at the 2017 World Championships in London and earning 6th at the 2019 World Championships in Doha. DNF at the 2022 World Championships in Eugene and after that bounced back to get 6th place at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest. He also won a bronze medal at the 2022 European Athletics Championships and the 2015 European U23 Championships. His personal bests are 8524 points in the decathlon (Budapest, 2023) and 6085 points in the indoor heptathlon (Tallinn, 2019). Rakvere
Rakvere is a town in northern Estonia and the administrative centre of the Lääne-Viru ''maakond'' (county), 20 km south of the Gulf of Finland of the Baltic Sea. Rakvere is the 8th most populous urban area in Estonia. Rakvere has a total area of 10.75 square kilometres, and although about 15% of it is covered by forest, the city is still populated so densely as to make it the third most densely populated city in Estonia. The athletics (sport), athletics competition at the 2011 European Youth Summer Olympic Festival was held from 25 to 29 July 2011. The events took place at the Söğütlü Athletics Stadium in Trabzon, Turkey. Boys and girls born 1994 or 1995 or later participated 36 track and field events, divided evenly between the sexes. The five-day competition was preceded by the 2011 World Youth Championships in Athletics and a number of athletes participated at both meetings. Bence Pásztor of Hungary set a List of world youth bests in athletics, world youth best of 84.41 metres to win the boy's hammer throw, while Yuriy Kushniruk of Ukraine set a European youth best in the javelin throw (his mark of 83.42 m was second only to Argentina's Braian Toledo). 2019 European Athletics Indoor Championships
The 2019 European Athletics Indoor Championships was held between 1 and 3 March 2019 at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow, Scotland. This was the second time this event was held in the city after the 1990 edition and the third time it was held in the United Kingdom, following the 2007 Edition in Birmingham, England. The three-day competition featured 13 men's and 13 women's athletics events and took place over three morning and three afternoon sessions. Bids Apeldoorn, Glasgow, Minsk and Toruń all submitted bids to host the 2019 European Indoor championships. Glasgow were chosen to host the 35th edition of the event with 9 votes ahead of Toruń with 6 votes and Apeldoorn with 1. It is 29 years since Glasgow had last hosted the championships. 2017 World Championships In Athletics – Men's Decathlon
The men's decathlon at the 2017 World Championships in Athletics was held at the Olympic Stadium on . Summary Before the competition started, there were a lot of athletes considered to be possible medal contenders. World leader Rico Freimuth (GER), Götzis winner Damian Warner (CAN) had shown solid performances throughout the season. Olympic silver medallist Kevin Mayer(FRA) had the best PB of the athletes, but had not done a decathlon in 2017. Ilya Shkurenev (ANA) had scored more than 8600 points, but hadn't been competing with the rest of the decathletes for nearly two years because of the ban of the Russian team. Another question mark was behind Trey Hardee (USA), the champion of 2009 and 2011. If he was able to reproduce his form of earlier years, he could be a contender as well. 2016 European Athletics Championships
The 2016 European Athletics Championships was held in Amsterdam, Netherlands, between 6 and 10 July 2016. It was the first time the Netherlands hosted the event. Due to 2016 being an Olympic year, there was no racewalking and the marathon competition was replaced by half marathon. The Russian team did not participate due to the suspension of the All-Russia Athletic Federation by the International Association of Athletics Federations. However, Yuliya Stepanova was individually cleared by the IAAF to compete as an independent athlete; she participated in the European championships under the flag of the European Athletic Association. The men's decathlon at the 2015 World Championships in Athletics was held at the Beijing National Stadium on 28 and 29 August. The overwhelming favorite here had to be the World Record Holder, Olympic Champion and defending Champion, Ashton Eaton. This was Eaton's first decathlon of the year. American Trey Hardee entered as the world leader. Pan American Games and Commonwealth Games champion and returning bronze medalist Damian Warner and returning silver medalist and Götzis winner Michael Schrader were also medal contenders. Eaton won the first event, the 100 metres in 10.23, a World Championship Decathlon best and #139 in the world, but slightly off world record pace. 2015 World Championships In Athletics
The 2015 IAAF World Championships ( zh, 第十五届世界田径锦标赛), the fifteenth edition of the IAAF World Championships, were held from 22 to 30 August at the National Stadium in Beijing, China. Forty-three nations won medals, 144 of which were awarded. Kenya topped the medal table for the first time, with 7 gold, 6 silver and 3 bronze medals. The United States won 18 medals, six gold, six silver and six bronze, which was the highest tally. Host nation China, finished 11th on the medals table, while Russia finished ninth. 205 IAAF member countries and territories participated, two more than in 2013, with new IAAF member, Kosovo, making its debut.
