Jana Lauren
Jana Lauren (born 28 June 1970) is a retired German discus thrower. She won the silver medal at the 1989 European Junior Championships, representing East Germany, and finished sixth at the 1994 European Championships. She competed at the 1995 World Championships, but did not progress from the qualification round. The discus throw (), also known as disc throw, is a track and field event in which an athlete throws a heavy disk (mathematics), disc—called a discus—in an attempt to mark a farther distance than their competitors. It is an classical antiquity, ancient sport, as demonstrated by the fifth-century-BC Myron statue ''Discobolus''. Although not part of the current pentathlon, it was one of the events of the Ancient Olympic pentathlon, ancient Greek pentathlon, which can be dated back to at least 708 BC, and it is part of the modern decathlon. 1995 World Championships In Athletics
The 5th World Championships in Athletics, under the auspices of the International Association of Athletics Federations, were held at the Ullevi Stadium, Gothenburg, Sweden on 5–13 August 1995. This edition featured 1804 athletes from 191 nations. This competition saw the women run the 5000 m event at the World Championships for the first time. The race replaced the 3000 m event which had been run at all previous World Championships.
