Johannes Willem "Jan Willem" van den Hondel (born 24 July 1957 in Gouda) is a sailor from the Netherlands. Since the Netherlands boycotted the Moscow Olympic Games Van den Hondel represented his National Olympic Committee at the 1980 Summer Olympics, which several countries boycotted, in Tallinn, USSR under the Dutch NOC flag. Gouda, South Holland
Gouda () is a city and municipality in the west of the Netherlands, between Rotterdam and Utrecht, in the province of South Holland. Gouda has a population of 75,000 and is famous for its Gouda cheese, stroopwafels, many grachten, smoking pipes, and its 15th-century city hall. The 470 (Four-Seventy) is a double-handed monohull planing dinghy with a centreboard, Bermuda rig, and centre sheeting. Equipped with a spinnaker, trapeze and a large sail-area-to-weight ratio, it is designed to plane easily, and good teamwork is necessary to sail it well. The name comes from the boat's length of .
