Jan Van Der Heide
Johan Frederik Willem "Jan" van der Heide () (1908–1959) was a Dutch tennis player. He was the fifth-ranked Dutch player in 1928, third in 1930 and second in 1932. He was a one-time national singles, doubles and mixed doubles champion. Tennis career In 1928 van der Heide substituted for Arthur Diemer Kool in the international team competition between Queensland and the Netherlands in Noordwijk, where he lost to Jack Cummings in five sets. In 1929 he was enlisted in the annual Belgium-Netherlands Cup, where he helped his squad with significant upsets over Léopold de Borman, André Laloux and the duo of Laloux- Guy van Zuylen. In 1930, he lost in the first round at Wimbledon to Victor Cazalet, 2–6, 2–6, 5–7. In mixed doubles he lost to Bill Tilden and Cilly Aussem. ''The Examiner'' is the daily newspaper of the city of Launceston and north-eastern Tasmania, Australia. Overview ''The Examiner'' was first published on 12 March 1842, founded by James Aikenhead. The Reverend John West was instrumental in establishing the newspaper and was the first editorial writer. At first it was a weekly publication (Saturdays). The Examiner expanded to Wednesdays six months later. In 1853, the paper was changed to tri-weekly (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays), and first began daily publication on 10 April 1866. Hans Van Swol
Albertus Christiaan "Hans" van Swol (; 22 August 1914 – 20 May 2010) was a Dutch tennis player. He was five-fold Dutch singles champion (1938, 1940, 1941, 1948 and 1949). He reached the fourth round at Wimbledon on five occasions (1946, 1948–1951) but never made it to the quarter finals stage. He reached the third round of the French Championships at Roland-Garros in 1937. In June 1946 he won the singles title at the Surrey Grass Court Championships in Surbiton, defeating D.W. Butler in the final in three sets. Van Swol played in 16 ties for the Dutch Davis Cup team between 1937 and 1955 and compiled a record of 18 wins and 21 losses. The Davis Cup is the premier international team event in men's tennis. It is run by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and is contested annually between teams from competing countries in a knock-out format. It is described by the organisers as the "World Cup of Tennis", and the winners are referred to as the World Champion team. The competition began in 1900 as a challenge between Great Britain and the United States. By 2016, 135 nations entered teams into the competition.
