Jan Krol (actor)
Jan Krol (21 August 1962 – 15 January 2023) was a Dutch television actor. Krol became known for his role as the young Bartje in the series of the same name that was broadcast by NCRV from December 1972. Krol played in the first five of the seven episodes. After secondary school, Krol did a youth welfare study in Leeuwarden. After his education, he started working in an epilepsy control center and then left for Germany to study. Krol became a teacher in Weimar, where he set up the school circus "Waldorfschule". He came back to the Netherlands to follow a clown course in Amsterdam. Krol became involved with the Anders Beleven Foundation (now called: Het Beter Gezelschap), which provides 'sensory stimulation' for healthcare workers, and with the international theater company Sign Dance Collective, which was founded in 2001. Krol worked in healthcare and was active as a freelance actor and clown. Krol died on 15 January 2023, at the age of 60. External links * References ... Drouwen
Drouwen () is a village in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Borger-Odoorn, and lies about 17 km east of Assen. History The village was first mentioned between 1381 and 1383 as "to Druwen". The etymology is unclear. Drouwen developed as an ''esdorp'' in the Early Middle Ages. It was probably a satellite of Borger. The village has no church, but does have four ''essen'' (communal pastures). During the 18th century, the depletion of the soil resulted in a continual increasing sandy area, and a large forest was planted around Drouwen. Drouwen was home to 362 people in 1840. Dolmen There are three ''hunebedden'' ( Dolmen) near Drouwen: D19, D20 and D26. There used to be more. The Nederlandse Omroep Stichting (; NOS ; English: Dutch Broadcasting Foundation) is one of the broadcasting organisations making up the Netherlands Public Broadcasting system. Bartje
Bartje Bartels is the main character in a series of Dutch books written by Anne de Vries from 1935 on. Bartje is a boy who lives with his poor family in the countryside of Drenthe. His parents want him to become a farmer like his father, but Bartje has other ideas. He initially works as an apprentice, but when his mother dies, he has to look after his younger brothers and sisters. There is a statue of Bartje in the city of Assen which has been vandalized several times. Famous quotation The most famous quotation from Bartje's books appears in a story in which the family is sitting at the table to eat brown beans. Bartje, who hates brown beans, pushes his plate away when his mother is about to give him some. He refuses to say grace (a prayer to thank God for the food they are about to eat) and says: ''Ik bid nie veur bruune boon'n '' (in modern Dutch: ''Ik bid niet voor bruine bonen'', meaning: ''I won’t thank God for brown beans''). The ''Nieuwsblad van het Noorden'' (; "Newspaper of the North") is a former regional daily newspaper from the city of Groningen in the Netherlands. It was published from 1888 to 2002, when it was merged with the ''Groninger Dagblad'' and the ''Drentse Courant'' into the ''Dagblad van het Noorden'', which published its first edition on 2 April 2002. Weimar is a city in the state of Thuringia, Germany. It is located in Central Germany between Erfurt in the west and Jena in the east, approximately southwest of Leipzig, north of Nuremberg and west of Dresden.
