Jan Jutte
Jan Jutte (born 1 October 1953) is a Dutch illustrator of children's literature. He received the Gouden Penseel award several times for his work. Career Jutte made his debut as illustrator in 1983 with his illustrations in Annie M. G. Schmidt's book ''Het Beertje Pippeloentje''. In the years that followed Jutte illustrated the books of various Dutch authors, including Toon Tellegen, Guus Kuijer, Edward van de Vendel, Bibi Dumon Tak, Ienne Biemans and Doeschka Meijsing. In 1993, he illustrated the book ''Lui Lei Enzo'' written by Rindert Kromhout. Kromhout won the Zilveren Griffel award and Jutte won the Gouden Penseel award for this book. Jutte also won the Gouden Penseel award in 2001 for his illustrations in the book ''Tien stoute katjes'' written by Mensje van Keulen and in 2004 for the book ''Een muts voor de maan'' written by Sjoerd Kuyper. Rindert Kromhout
Rindert Kromhout (born 9 August 1958) is a Dutch author of children's books and young adult fiction. He is the author of the 2002 ''kinderboekenweekgeschenk'', a commissioned book given away to book buyers during the annual ''Boekenweek''. Biography Kromhout spent part of his childhood in children's homes. He graduated from the MAVO and then attended the Pedagogische academie voor het basisonderwijs, with the intent to teach elementary school. He was more interested in writing, though, and wrote stories and toured with a puppet theater. In 1978 a story of his was published in the Dutch ''Donald Duck'', and two years later he published his first book, ''Een muis bij het fornuis''. In 1982 he became a full-time writer. In 2011 his ''Soldaten huilen niet'' won the inaugural Gouden Lijst, awarded by the Collectieve Propaganda van het Nederlandse Boek for the best Dutch young-adult novel (ages 12–15). Sjoerd Kuyper
Sjoerd Kuyper (born 6 March 1952, Amsterdam) is a Dutch poetry and prose writer of adult, children's and youth books, theatre, TV series, film scripts and lyrics. His best-known works are the film ''Het zakmes'' (''The Pocket-knife''), the series of books about the toddler Robin, the poem ''Mensen met koffers'' (''People with Suitcases''), the lyrics ''Hallo wereld'' (''Hello World'') and the youth novels ''Hotel De Grote L'' (''The Big L hotel'') and ''Bizar'' (''Bizarre''). His books have been published in fifteen countries. He has won, among other things, six Zilveren Griffels and a Gouden Griffel for ''Robin en God'' (''Robin and God''). Mensje van Keulen (born 10 June 1946), pseudonym of Mensje Francina van der Steen, is a Dutch writer. Career Early in her career van Keulen made drawings, stories and poems for the magazine '' Propria Cures''. Van Keulen made her debut in 1972 with the book ''Bleekers zomer''. Van Keulen was editor of the magazine '' Maatstaf'' between 1973 and 1981. In 1986, van Keulen won the Zilveren Griffel award for her first children's book ''Tommie Station'' (1985). Doeschka Meijsing
Maria Johanna Meijsing (21 October 1947 – 30 January 2012) was a Dutch novelist. She won the AKO Literatuurprijs in 2000 for her novel '' De tweede man'', and in 2008 the Ferdinand Bordewijk Prijs for her novel '' Over de liefde''. Doeschka Meijsing is the older sister of writer Geerten Meijsing and philosopher Monica Meijsing. Biography Meijsing was born in Eindhoven, on 21 October 1947. When she was three years old, Meijsing and her family moved to Haarlem. She studied Dutch Language and Literary Studies at the University of Amsterdam. Meijsing was a teacher at the St. Ignatius Gymnasium from 1971 to 1976. She subsequently held a position as a research assistant at the University of Amsterdam's Institute for Dutch Studies until 1978. Gouden Griffel
The Gouden Griffel (Golden Stylus) is an award given to authors of children's or teenagers' literature in the Netherlands. History Since 1971, it is awarded each year during the Dutch Children's Books Week, by the Stichting Collectieve Propaganda van het Nederlandse Boek (Dutch Book Promotion Society) for the best children's books written in the past year. Between 1954 and 1970, one book per year was declared the "children's book of the year". Since then, ''griffels'' are awarded in several categories. Only novels written in Dutch are eligible for the ''gouden griffel''. However, the runner-up awards (Silver ''griffels'') can also be given to translated works. Ienne Biemans (born 15 August 1944) is a Dutch author of children's literature and children's poems. Career In 1989, Biemans won the Nienke van Hichtum-prijs for her book ''Lang zul je leven''. She also won a Vlag en Wimpel award that year for this book. In 1990, she won the Zilveren Griffel for her book ''Ik was de zee''. In 2013, she also won a Vlag en Wimpel award for her book ''Waar was Hans?''. Biemans' books have been illustrated by various illustrators, including Margriet Heymans and Mance Post.
