Jan Güntner
Jan Güntner (born 17 June 1931) is a Polish stage and film actor and director. Biography He graduated from the State College of Acting in Kraków in 1953. Since the beginning of Piwnica pod Baranami activity in 1958 he was a regular participant of the cabaret, he was the first to declaim poems by his friend Andrzej Bursa on the stage. Güntner made his first steps in acting at Teatr Młodego Widza (the Young Viewer Theatre) led by Maria Biliżanka. He was an actor of Ludowy Theatre (1958–1971), National Stary Theatre (1972–1973; 1982–2000; guest starring 2005) and Bagatela Theatre (1976–1982). Piwnica Pod Baranami
The Piwnica pod Baranami ( en, The Basement, or the Cellar under the Rams) is a Polish literary cabaret located in Kraków, Poland. For over thirty years, in the People's Republic of Poland, Piwnica pod Baranami served as the most renowned political cabaret in the country, until the end of (and beyond) the communist era. Created by Piotr Skrzynecki in 1956, the cabaret continues its activities, contrary to rumours that it has been closed after the death of its founder in 1997. It resides at its original location in the medieval Old Town district, at the Main Market Square (next to Vis-á-vis café). At first, the facility was a meeting place for Kraków students. Andrzej Bursa
Andrzej Bursa (21 March 1932 – 15 November 1957) was a Polish poet and writer. Born in Kraków, he studied journalism, then Bulgarian at Jagiellonian University in Kraków. In 1954–1957 Bursa worked as a journalist and reporter for the Kraków newspaper ''Dziennik Polski''. Many of his contemporaries attributed his early death at the age of 25 to suicide, while the true cause of it was a congenital heart disease. He was buried at the Rakowicki Cemetery. Bursa published his first poem in 1954. A prolific writer, he published 37 poems and a short story in different magazines during his lifetime. He died of a heart attack in 1957. Shortly thereafter, his first poetry collection was published, an important event in Polish poetry. Presently, there is a poetry prize named after Bursa which many living Polish poets have won (e.g. Ewa Lipska and Stanisław Barańczak). National Stary Theatre
The Helena Modrzejewska National Stary Theater in Kraków (Polish: ''Narodowy Stary Teatr im. Heleny Modrzejewskiej'') is one of the oldest public stages in Poland and a national institution of culture, first opened in 1781.
