Jan Arild Ellingsen
Jan Arild Ellingsen (born 9 October 1958 in Oslo) is a Norwegian politician for the Progress Party. He was elected to the Norwegian Parliament from Nordland in 2001, and has been re-elected on one occasion. Ellingsen is currently the Progress Party's spokesperson on matters relating to justice and crime. In 2005 Ellingsen accepted an Iraqi death sentence over a Norwegian Iraqi, drawing a sharp rebuke from fellow Progress Party MP André Kvakkestad. In 2016, Ellingsen applauded the establishment of Soldiers of Odin, an anti immigration group, saying they should be "praised". Government and party leaders quickly distanced themselves from his comments, stating public security to be the responsibility of the police. Oslo
Oslo ( , , or ; sma, Oslove) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. The municipality of Oslo had a population of in 2022, while the city's greater urban area had a population of in 2019, and the metropolitan area had an estimated population of in 2021. During the Viking Age the area was part of Viken. Progress Party (Norway)
The Progress Party ( nb, Fremskrittspartiet; nn, Framstegspartiet; se, Ovddádusbellodat), commonly abbreviated as FrP, is a right-wing political party in Norway. The FrP has traditionally self-identified as classical-liberal and as a libertarian party but is generally positioned to the right of the Conservative Party, and is considered the most right-wing party to be represented in parliament. It is often described as moderately right-wing populist; this characterization has also been disputed in both academic and public discourse. The Storting ( no, Stortinget ) (lit. the Great Thing) is the supreme legislature of Norway, established in 1814 by the Constitution of Norway. It is located in Oslo. The unicameral parliament has 169 members and is elected every four years based on party-list proportional representation in nineteen multi-seat constituencies. Nordland
Nordland (; smj, Nordlánnda, sma, Nordlaante, sme, Nordlánda, en, Northland) is a county in Norway in the Northern Norway region, the least populous of all 11 counties, bordering Troms og Finnmark in the north, Trøndelag in the south, Norrbotten County in Sweden to the east, Västerbotten County to the south-east, and the Atlantic Ocean (Norwegian Sea) to the west. André Kvakkestad
André Kvakkestad (born 28 October 1971) is a Norwegian lawyer and politician for the Progress Party. Early life and education Kvakkestad was born in Oslo as the son of director Willy R. Rahm and manager Elisabeth S. Kvakkestad. He attended Hebekk School (1978–84), Ski Lower Secondary School (1984–87), Ski Upper Secondary School (1987–1990) and studied law at the University of Oslo from 1990 to 1995. Since 2007, he has held a license as a lawyer. Soldiers Of Odin
Soldiers of Odin (SOO; fi, Odinin sotilaat) is an anti-immigrant group which was founded in Kemi, Finland, in October of 2015. The group was established in response to the thousands of migrants who were arriving in Finland amidst the European migrant crisis. They call themselves a "patriotic organisation that fights for a Finland" that wants to scare away "Islamist intruders" they say cause insecurity and increase crime. In interviews as well as on the group's public Facebook page, SOO has denied claims which state that he and his group are racist and neo-Nazi. However, the group's founder, Mika Ranta, has connections to the far-right and neo-Nazi Nordic Resistance Movement as well as a criminal conviction which stems from a racially motivated assault which he committed in 2005. Saltdal ( sme, Sálát) is a municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is part of the traditional district of Salten. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Rognan.
