Jamshedpur Women’s College
Jamshedpur Women's College, established in 1953, is a general degree women's college in the Jharkhand state of India. It was founded by Perin C. Mehta. In 1962 the college acquired its own campus which was gifted by philanthropist Ratan Tata. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in arts, commerce and sciences. Affiliated with Kolhan University, the university has grade 'A' accreditation from NAAC. It has been recognized by the University Grants Commission as a Center with Potential for Excellence (CPE). The college aims to provide holistic education for its students while giving special attention to SC and ST students. Under the Jharkhand State University Amendment Act 2017, the college will become the first university for women in Jharkhand. The Youth Hostels Association of India (YHAI) is an organisation providing youth hostel accommodation in India. It is a member of the Hostelling International federation. History Formation The whole concept of youth hostels was started in Germany in 1909 by Richard Schirrmann and it took 40 years for the ideas to reach fruition in the India. Literacy in India is a key for social-economic progress. The 2011 census, indicated a 2001–2011 literacy growth of 97.2%, which is slower than the growth seen during the previous decade.
