Jamie Hickox
Jamie Hickox (born 8 February 1964 in Canada) is a former English and Canadian professional squash player. Moving to England, he became the 1983 British Junior Open Squash Under-19 champion. In 1986, he became the Canadian Squash Champion and competed in the Men's World Open Squash Championship. John Furlong, whose professional biographies claim he was the Canadian champion, was an age group winner in 1986. Hickox has represented both England and Canada at International level. In 2011 he became the new Performance Director for Squash Canada after previously coaching the Malaysian National squad. British Junior Open Squash
The British Junior Open squash championship is considered the second most prestigious junior open squash championship after the World Junior Squash Championships. It is one of the five Tier 2 events in the WSF World Junior Squash Circuit. British Junior Open is divided into ten categories — Boys Under-19, Boys Under-17, Boys Under-15, Boys Under-13, Boys Under-11, Girls Under-19, Girls Under-17, Girls Under-15, Girls Under-13, and Girls Under-11. The Under-19 boys category was known as the Drysdale Cup before 1999; the Under-16 and Under-14 categories were both held prior to 1999, until being replaced by Under-15 and Under-17 categories respectively. The Under-13 categories were also introduced in the same year. The tournament moved to Birmingham from 2018 onwards, where the Under-11 categories were introduced. 1986 Men's World Open Squash Championship
The 1986 UAP Men's World Open Squash Championship is the men's edition of the 1986 World Open, which serves as the individual world championship for squash players. The event took place in Toulouse in France from 5 November to 11 November 1986. Ross Norman won his first World Open title, defeating Jahangir Khan in the final. John Furlong (sports Administrator)
John Furlong, OC, OBC (born October 12, 1950) is a Canadian sports administrator who oversaw the 2010 Winter Olympics and 2010 Winter Paralympics and was President and CEO of the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Organizing Committee (VANOC). Furlong is chairman of Rocky Mountaineer, corporate director of Canadian Tire, volunteer chair of Own the Podium and a public speaker. Furlong first visited Canada as a physical education teacher and missionary at two Catholic day schools from 1969 to 1972 in the Canadian province of British Columbia in the communities of Burns Lake and Prince George, it has been reported he physically and emotionally abused multiple children while at those schools. At the conclusion of his teaching term he returned to Ireland and served as a sports administrator at Newpark Comprehensive School before emigrating to Canada in 1975.
