Jamie Elliott (footballer, Born 1973)
Jamie Elliott (born 6 February 1973) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Fitzroy, Richmond and St Kilda in the Australian Football League (AFL) during the 1990s. Elliott was picked up by Fitzroy in the 1989 VFL draft and broke into the team for the first time in 1991. He was a regular fixture in the team that year but managed only 10 games in 1992. From 14 appearances in 1993 he averaged 16 disposals a game and at the end of the year requested to be released. He joined Richmond in 1994, having been selected with the third pick of the pre-season draft but would struggle with injuries in his two seasons. After the 1995 season, Elliott was traded to St Kilda in a swap for Wayne Thornborrow. He played in his club's Ansett Cup winning side but a shoulder injury suffered in the grand final meant he missed the first half of the regular season. The Maryborough Football & Netball Club, nicknamed the ''Magpies'', is an Australian rules football and netball club based in the town of Maryborough, Victoria. The club teams currently compete in the Bendigo Football Netball League. History Maryborough were Ballarat Football League premiers on four occasions from 1924 to 1931 but missed both the 1929 and 1930 seasons as they were without a home ground. The council had decided to allocate Princess Park to the Maryborough District Football Association (MDFA). After returning and winning the 1931 premiership, Maryborough applied to join the Bendigo league and were suspended from the Ballarat league as a result. From 1932 to 1940, a separate club called Maryborough United participated in the Bendigo league. The original club reformed in 1945 and they spent a season in the MDFA before returning to the Ballarat league in 1946. The Ballarat Football League (BFL) is an Australian rules football competition that operates in the Ballarat region of Victoria, Australia. The competition formed in 1893 as the Ballarat Football Association and was renamed Ballarat Football League in 1908 and was briefly known as the Ballarat-Wimmera Football League between 1934 and 1936. Overview The league features 11 senior clubs. North Ballarat City Football Club joined the league in 2008 season raising the number of teams to the present number. Wayne Thornborrow (born 27 December 1972) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with St Kilda in the Australian Football League (AFL). Thornborrow was initially drafted by St Kilda in the 1989 National Draft, but the Glenelg recruit remained in South Australia and didn't play in the AFL until 1994.
