Jamie Peter Drew (born 7 December 1973) is an Australian former racing cyclist. He won the Australian national road race title in 2000. He won the Melbourne to Warrnambool Classic in 1999 and 2002. Warrnambool
Warrnambool ( Maar: ''Peetoop'' or ''Wheringkernitch'' or ''Warrnambool'') is a city on the south-western coast of Victoria, Australia. At the 2021 census, Warrnambool had a population of 35,743. Situated on the Princes Highway, Warrnambool (Allansford) marks the western end of the Great Ocean Road and the southern end of the Hopkins Highway. History Origin of name The name "Warrnambool" originated from Mount Warrnambool, a scoria cone volcano 25 kilometres northeast of the town. Warrnambool (or Warrnoobul) was the title of both the volcano and the clan of Aboriginal Australian people who lived there. In the local language, the prefix Warnn- designated home or hut, while the meaning of the suffix -ambool is now unknown. Mi-Août en Bretagne is a French cycling road race that was established in 1960. It is held in the region of Brittany, France. It is rated 2.2 on the UCI Europe Tour. The original race ran from 1960 to 1966. It was then re-established in 1978 by Louis Bihannic. Prior to the 2009 season the race was previously categorised as 1.5 on the UCI Europe Tour; by the final edition in 2012, it was categorised as 2.2. Citing financial problems, the race was not held after 2012. Individual Time Trial
An individual time trial (ITT) is a road bicycle race in which cyclists race alone against the clock (in French: ''contre la montre'' – literally "against the watch", in Italian: ''tappa a cronometro'' "stopwatch stage"). There are also track-based time trials where riders compete in velodromes, and team time trials (TTT). ITTs are also referred to as "the race of truth", as winning depends only on each rider's strength and endurance, and not on help provided by teammates and others riding ahead and creating a slipstream. Individual time trial are usually held on flat or rolling terrain, although sometimes they are held up a mountain road (in Italian: ''cronoscalata'' "chrono climbing"). 2000 Tour De Langkawi
The 2000 Tour de Langkawi was the 5th edition of the Tour de Langkawi, a cycling stage race that took place in Malaysia. It began with a prologue criterium on 25 January in Langkawi and ended on 6 February in Kuala Lumpur. In fact, this race was rated by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) as a 2.4 category race. Chris Horner of USA won the race, followed by Julio Alberto Pérez of Mexico second and Fortunato Baliani of Italy third. Gordon Fraser won the points classification category and Julio Alberto Pérez won the mountains classification category. Mercury won the team classification category. The Mercury Cycling Team was an American professional cycling team. It was founded in 1992 as an amateur team by John Wordin and Thurlow Rogers, with Whole Foods , Mrs. Gooch's Natural Foods Markets as the lead sponsor in 1992 and 1994. Before Mercury (automobile), Mercury took over title sponsorship from 1998–1999 and 2001–2002 the team raced under various title sponsors including Miller Lite (1993), San Joaquin Figs, Nutra Fig (1995–1996), Comptel Data Systems, LLC, Comptel Data Systems (1997), and Manheim Auctions (2000). Herald Sun Tour
The Herald Sun Tour is an Australian professional bicycle race held in Melbourne and provincial Victoria, sanctioned by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). The first tour was held in October 1952 as a six-day event. It is now held annually over five days in February. It is named after the ''Herald Sun'', Melbourne's only daily tabloid newspaper. It was originally known as the Sun Tour after ''The Sun News-Pictorial'', and changed its name when ''The Sun News-Pictorial'' merged with '' The Herald'' in 1990. Stuart O'Grady
Stuart O'Grady (born 6 August 1973) is a retired Australian professional road bicycle racer, who rode as a professional between 1995 and 2013. A former track cyclist, O'Grady and Graeme Brown won a gold medal in the Men's Madison at the 2004 Summer Olympics. O'Grady also won Paris–Roubaix in 2007. O'Grady competed in the Tour de France from 1997 and contended for the points classification in the Tour de France known as the green jersey, finishing second in the 1998, 1999, 2001 and 2005 races. He wore the yellow jersey of general classification leader in 1998 and 2001. With his participation in the 2013 Tour de France, he tied George Hincapie's record of 17 participations in the Tour de France.
