James Wright (speedway Rider)
James Philip Wright (born 13 June 1986 in Stockport, Greater Manchester), is a speedway rider in the United Kingdom. Wright was also a squad member for Unia Tarnow in Liga I in Poland along with his Belle Vue Aces team mates Steve Boxall and Patrick Hougaard. His grandfather, Jim Yacoby rode for the Belle Vue Aces from 1959 until 1967. James' brother Charles is also a speedway rider. Career history He started his career with the Buxton Hitmen before progressing to his current clubs. In 2004 he became the Conference League Riders Champion. In June 2007, Wright signed for Vastervik to ride in the Swedish Elite League. Wright represented Great Britain for the 2007 Under 21-World Cup Final. 2007 also saw Wright become Premier League Riders Champion. Stockport
Stockport is a town and borough in Greater Manchester, England, south-east of Manchester, south-west of Ashton-under-Lyne and north of Macclesfield. Premier League Four-Team Championship
The Premier League Four-Team Championship was a contest between teams competing in the Premier League in the United Kingdom. Eight teams are grouped into fours, with one rider from each team in each race. The winners and second place of each group competed for the Championship in the final. History The competition replaced the National League Four-Team Championship (held from 1976 until 1994). It was first staged in 1995 when the Premier League was the highest tier of British speedway because the top two divisions had merged. Elite League (speedway)
The Elite League was the top division of speedway league competition in the United Kingdom, governed by the Speedway Control Bureau (SCB), in conjunction with the British Speedway Promoters' Association (BSPA). It was sponsored by Sky Sports until the end of the 2013 season. In 2016, the Elite League featured 8 teams, unlike 10 in 2014, during a season which ran between March and October. Each team had a designated race day on which they normally staged their home fixtures, and they regularly had home and away fixtures scheduled in the same week. The Elite League operated for 20 years until British speedway was restructured with the formation of the SGB Premiership and SGB Championship. Team Speedway Junior World Championship
The Team Speedway Under-21 World Championship is a speedway competition to determine the World Championship for national Under-21 teams. The sport's equivalent of the Under-21 World Cup in football, as of 2022 the title is awarded to the winners of SON2, the Under-21 division of the Speedway of Nations. The first edition of the competition was in 2005 prior to its incorporation with the Speedway of Nations. Poland has dominated the competition winning the title record 15 times. 2007 Team Speedway Junior World Championship
The 2007 Team Speedway Junior World Championship is the third FIM Team Speedway Junior World Championship season. The Final took place on 23 September 2007 in Abensberg, Germany. The World Championship was won by Poland U-21. It was third title for Poland. Poland team is only team who was won this competition (first staged in 2005). It was also a third title for Poland' captain Karol Ząbik and second title for Paweł Hlib and Krzysztof Buczkowski. In the final, Poland (40 points) beat Great Britain (36 pts), Czech Republic (30 pts) and Germany (13 pts). It was first medals for the British and Czech teams. Great Britain Speedway Team
The Great Britain Speedway Team (also known as GB Speedway Team) is one of the major teams in international speedway. The team is managed by former Great Britain riders Oliver Allen and Simon Stead, and captained by the 2018 Speedway World Champion Tai Woffinden. Speedway World Cup The England national speedway team has won the Speedway World Team Cup on five occasions with the Great Britain side winning four times. Conference League (speedway)
The Conference League was the third and lowest division of motorcycle speedway racing in the United Kingdom governed by the Speedway Control Board (SCB), in conjunction with the British Speedway Promoters' Association (BSPA). The other leagues being the Elite League and Premier League. The League consisted of eight teams for the 2008 season. In 2009 it was replaced with the National League. History The British League Division Three had been created in 1994 as a replacement for the second-half junior leagues that were scrapped when British League matches were extended to eighteen heats. The league was renamed the British Academy League in 1995, but many of the teams that took part experienced severe financial problems.
