James Watton
James Augustus Watton (1915–1995) was a Canadian Anglican bishop in the second half of the 20th century. Life and career Watton was born on 23 October 1915, educated at the University of Western Ontario and ordained in 1939. He held curacies at Lucknow, Ontario and Merlin, after which he was the incumbent of Plympton–Wyoming. After time at Geraldton, Kirkland Lake and Timmins, he became Dean of Moosonee in 1955. In 1957, he became Rector of St John's Port Hope and in 1958 of St Michael and All Angels, Toronto. In 1963, he became the Bishop of Moosonee, a position he held until 1979, for the last five years of which he was also Metropolitan of Ontario The Ecclesiastical Province of Ontario is one of four ecclesiastical provinces in the Anglican Church of Canada. Lewis Samuel Garnsworthy
Lewis Samuel Garnsworthy (1922 – January 26, 1990) was a Canadian religious leader. He served as the Anglican Bishop of Toronto from 1972 to 1989 and was the Archbishop of the ecclesiastical province of Ontario from 1979 to 1985. Early life Garnsworthy was born in Edmonton, Alberta, the son of an unemployed carpenter. Raised in a non-religious environment, he became a practising Christian after being taken to Bible class at age seventeen. He received a Bachelor's Degree at the University of Alberta in 1943 and later earned a theological degree from Wycliffe College in Toronto. He spent twenty-two years as a priest in the city before being elected as an assistant bishop in 1968. Bishop of Toronto In 1972, he was chosen as the ninth Bishop of Toronto. John Charles Roper (1858 – 26 January 1940) was an Anglican bishop in the Anglo-Catholic tradition in the first half of the 20th century. Biography Roper was educated at Keble College, Oxford. Ordained in 1882, he began his ministry with a curacy at Herstmonceux and was then as chaplain of Brasenose College, Oxford. In 1886, he was appointed Professor of Divinity at Trinity College, Toronto and also served as parish priest of St Thomas's Toronto. Cuthbert Cooper Robinson was an Anglican bishop in the 20th century. He was born into an ecclesiastical family on 26 May 1893 and educated at the University of Toronto.
