James Taylor (New Mexico Politician)
James G. Taylor (born February 5, 1966) is an American politician who served as a member of the New Mexico House of Representatives for the 12th district from 1994 through 2004 and New Mexico Senate for the 14th district from 2004 to 2008. Career Taylor was elected to the New Mexico House of Representatives in 1994. In 2004, Taylor was appointed to the New Mexico Senate. In 2008 he was defeated for re-election in the Democratic primary by Eric Griego, a member of the Albuquerque City Council. After losing the primary, he filed a lawsuit to overturn the results of the election. In 2012, Taylor ran for his old seat. Eric Griego
Eric G. Griego (born January 22, 1966) is an American politician from the state of New Mexico. A member of the Democratic Party, he served in the New Mexico Senate, representing the 14th district, from 2009 to 2013. He began his political career elected as a councilman to the Albuquerque City Council, serving 1999 to 2004. Griego sought the Democratic nomination in the 2012 Congressional election, losing to Michelle Lujan Grisham in the three-candidate primary. Early life and education Griego was born in 1966 and raised in a Catholic family in Albuquerque, New Mexico. After attending local schools, Griego completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Government at New Mexico State University in 1989 and an Master of Public Administration in Public Management at University of Maryland in 1991. Michael Padilla
Michael Padilla (born June 13, 1972 in Albuquerque, New Mexico) is an American politician and a Democratic member of the New Mexico Senate representing District 14 since January 15, 2013. Padilla is the Senate Majority Whip. Early life and education Padilla grew up in Los Padillas, a rural farming community that his family helped settle over 150 years ago, and is located inside of the district he represents. He is the youngest of five children. Padilla and his siblings grew up in the All Faiths Receiving Home for Homeless Children and with various family members because his parents were unable to raise them. Eleanor Chavez (born June 30, 1953) is an American politician serving as a member of the New Mexico House of Representatives for the 26th district. She previously represented the 13th district in the House from 2009 to 2013. Early life and education Chavez was born in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The Albuquerque City Council is the elected legislative authority of the city of Albuquerque, New Mexico. It consists of nine members, elected from respective districts of the city on a non-partisan basis. The form of city government is mayor–council government and home rule municipality.
