James Rippey

	James Rippey James Rippey (born 1977) is a Scottish born international indoor and lawn bowler who has represented both Scotland and England. He was a regular qualifier for World Bowls Tour events and was ranked as high as world number 17. As of 2019, he was ranked 21 by the World Bowls Tour. Career Rippey won the Scottish national fours title aged just 17. He went on to captain the U25s England outdoor side and has won the English indoor Triples title. He qualified for the 2016, 2017, 2019 (Singles & Pairs) and 2020 World Indoor Bowls Championships. 	World Bowls Tour The World Bowls Tour is an international organisation which promotes indoor bowls worldwide and organises competitions, including the World Indoor Bowls Championships with other bowls associations. Its parent organisation is the Professional Bowls Association. 	Scottish National Bowls Championships The Scottish National Bowls Championships is one of the oldest bowls competitions in the world. In 1892 Mr James Brown of Sanquhar BC and Dr Clark of the Partick BC formed the Scottish Bowls Association and organised the first rink (fours) championship the following year at the Queen's Park Club, Glasgow (it was the first national championships and was known as the McEwan Cup). The first singles winner (originally called the Roseberry Trophy) was George Sprot and his son Bob Sprot was a three time champion and the first gold medal singles champion at the Commonwealth Games for Scotland. 	World Indoor Bowls Championships The World Indoor Bowls Championship is an international bowls competition held annual at Potters holiday park in Hopton on Sea. The last week of the competition is televised live on BBC where the open singles and open pairs', women's singles and mixed pairs' finals are shown. History The competition was first held in 1979 in Coatbridge, Scotland as a men's singles only event. The first event was sponsored by Embassy Cigarettes. In 1986, the men's pairs competition was added to the championship. In 1988, a rule change allowed women to compete for the first time and the women's singles competition was created. This rule change also changed expanded the men's singles and pairs competition and both become open tournaments. In 1989, the championships moved to the Guild Hall in Preston, England And Churchill Insurance took over the sponsorship. 	Mark Dawes Mark Dawes (born 1983) is an English international lawn and indoor bowler and a four times world indoor champion. Bowls career He won the Men's National Junior title in 2005 at the National Championships. By 2014 he had reached a career high world indoor ranking of 8. In 2018 he won the World Indoor Open Pairs title with Jamie Chestney. and then followed this by taking the World Open Singles Championship, defeating Robert Paxton in a hard fought final. Dawes had been the player of the tournament and Paxton did well to take the final to a tie break. He was subsequently named as the singles first seed at the 2019 World Indoor Bowls Championship. In 2020 his indoor club Blackpool Newton Hall BC permanently closed and Dawes was forced to find a new club.
