James Paringatai
James Paringatai (born 7 January 1986) is a New Zealand basketball player who last played for the Toowoomba Mountaineers of the Queensland State League (QSL). He played 13 seasons in the National Basketball League (NBL), with his most notable stint coming with the Southland Sharks between 2010 and 2016. He captained the Sharks to NBL championships in 2013 and 2015. In June 2016, he moved to Australia to play in the State Basketball League (SBL). He was a member of the Geraldton Buccaneers' 2019 SBL championship-winning team. Early life Paringatai was born in Taihape, played two seasons with Wanganui City College, and went to Australia with the New Zealand under-20 and under-23 teams. Growing up in Taihape, Paringatai loved being outdoors and spending time with family. He played rugby union as a youth before picking up basketball as an early teenager. Jeremiah Kloeten Trueman (born 19 May 1987) is a New Zealand former professional basketball player. Early life Trueman was born in New Plymouth and originally grew up in nearby Stratford. He joined his parents, first in Tasmania and then in Brazil, as Christian missionaries. The family arrived in South America when Trueman was seven and took over a hostel that housed a group of street kids, staying in the country for four years. In Brazil, he attended school, learnt Portuguese, and played soccer. Upon returning to New Zealand, he started playing basketball. In 2004 and 2005, Trueman attended Nelson College in Nelson and played for the school's basketball team. During those two years, he also played in the New Zealand NBL for the Nelson Giants. Rugby Southland (formerly the Southland Rugby Football Union) is the provincial rugby union who govern the Southland region of New Zealand.
