James Henry Mulligan
James Henry Mulligan (1823 – July 15, 1892) was an Irish-born landowner and politician in Quebec. He served as mayor of Aylmer from 1881 to 1882. Longford, Ireland, he came to Aylmer in 1854. He worked as a butcher and baker and ran a livery stable. He also ran a stagecoach. On April 30, 1855, Mulligan married Margaret Catherine Kernahan. He later became one of the major landowners in the region and a prominent breeder of cattle and horses, many of which he won prizes for at agricultural fairs. Aylmer is a former city in Quebec, Canada. It is located on the north shore of the Ottawa River and along Route 148. In January 2002, it amalgamated into the city of Gatineau, which is part of Canada's National Capital Region. Aylmer's population in 2011 was 55,113. It is named after Lord Aylmer, who was a governor general of British North America and a lieutenant governor of Lower Canada from 1830 to 1835. It bills itself as the "Recreation Capital of the National Capital", given its many golf courses, green spaces, spas, marina, and bicycle paths. There is little industry in the sector, the area being mainly residential. Virtually all the major shops, services, and restaurants are located along Chemin d'Aylmer. Drumlish
Drumlish () is a village in County Longford, Ireland on the R198 regional road north of Longford Town. History Evidence of ancient settlement in the area includes a number of ringfort sites in Drumlish and its surrounding townlands. The remains of a portal tomb, known as the Melkagh Dolmen, lie approximately 2 km north of the village. In 1621, King James I granted Sir George Calvert two tracts of land in the plantation of Longford, one around "Ulfeed" (now Elfeet near Newtowncashel) and the other around "Dromlish" (corresponding to the modern townlands of Drumlish, Barragh Beg, Barragh More, Derawley, Greagh, Cartrongolan, Oghil, and Enybegs). The tracts comprised the manor of Ulfeed with Calvert as lord of the manor. William George Mulligan
William George Mulligan (February 10, 1856 – October 5, 1942) was a farmer, merchant and politician in Quebec. He served as mayor of Aylmer from 1913 to 1914 and from 1929 to 1934. He was born in Aylmer, Canada East, the son of James Henry Mulligan and Margaret Kernahan. In 1902, Mulligan married Mary Irwin McDermott. At various times in his life, he farmed, raised livestock. was a merchant dealing in gardening supplies and was a lumber merchant.
