Sir James Grant, 1st Baronet (died 1695) was a Scottish lawyer of the seventeenth century. James Monteith Grant
Sir James Monteith Grant FRHSC (Hon) (19 October 1903 – 1 December 1981) was Lord Lyon King of Arms of Scotland from 1969 to 1981. Educated at the Edinburgh Academy and the University of Edinburgh, where he studied law, he was appointed a Writer to the Signet (WS) in 1927. His first heraldic appointment was as Carrick Pursuivant in 1946. He was promoted to Marchmont Herald in 1957 and then to Lord Lyon in 1969. He was also Secretary to the Order of the Thistle from 1971 until 1981. From his retirement as Lord Lyon in 1981, he again held the post of Marchmont Herald until his death later that year. He was a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland (FSA Scot), a Knight of the Venerable Order of St John (KStJ) from 1970, and a Commander 2nd Class of the Order of the Polar Star (KNO2kl) of Sweden from 1975. James Ronald Grant (August 4, 1894 – November 30, 1985) was a pitcher in Major League Baseball who played briefly for the Philadelphia Phillies during the season. Listed at , 180 lb., Grant batted right-handed and threw left-handed. He was born in Coalville, Iowa. Grant, who played most of his career in the minor leagues, pitched from 1916 to 1923 for the Des Moines Boosters and Sioux City Packers of the defunct Western League before joining the Phillies. In two relief appearances for Philadelphia, Grant posted a 13.50 earned run average in 4.0 innings of work, giving up eight runs (two unearned) on 10 hits and four walks. He did not get a decision and was not credited with a save or a strikeout. James Grant FRSE DD DCL (January 23, 1800 – July 28, 1890) was a Scottish minister. Combining his religious skills with business skills he was also Director of Scottish Widows for 50 years (1840 to 1890) and Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in 1854. During his period as Moderator he was styled as Right Rev James Grant and thereafter as Very Rev James Grant. Life He was born in the manse at Portmoak on the northern edge of Loch Leven on 23 January 1800, the son of Rev Andrew Grant, minister of Portmoak. James Grant (born 8 October 1964) is a Scottish musician, singer, and songwriter. He grew up in Glasgow's Castlemilk district and still resides in the city. Friends Again James Grant's music career began in 1982 as songwriter and guitarist in the new wave band Friends Again, alongside Chris Thomson, later of the Bathers. The group had minor hit singles with "State of Art", "Sunkissed" and "Honey at the Core". They released a self-titled EP in 1983 which reached No. 59 in the UK and then recorded their debut album, ''Trapped & Unwrapped'', in 1984. James Edward Grant (May 25, 1924 – August 14, 1997) was an American painter and sculptor active from the late 1950s into the early 1970s. Best known for his sculptural work in plastics, this work by no means defined him but was rather a natural endpoint of an exploration into increased dimensionality—starting from abstract canvases, moving through collages and bas-reliefs until the work finally came off the wall in sculptural form.
