James Donaldson (cricketer)
James Andrew Donaldson (born 27 August 1943) is a former English cricketer. Donaldson was a left-handed batsman. He was born in Castle Rising, Norfolk. Donaldson made his debut for Norfolk in the 1963 Minor Counties Championship against Cambridgeshire. Donaldson played Minor counties cricket for Norfolk from 1963 to 1971, which included 28 Minor Counties Championship appearances. He made his List A debut against Cheshire in the 1968 Gillette Cup. Opening the batting, he was dismissed for 16 runs by Anthony Shillinglaw. He made a further List A appearance against Yorkshire in the 1969 Gillette Cup. Opening the batting alongside Graham Saville, he scored 8 runs before being dismissed by Tony Nicholson. Anthony Laird Shillinglaw (born 25 May 1937) is a former English cricketer. Shillinglaw was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm medium pace. He was born in Birkenhead, Cheshire. Shillinglaw made his debut for Cheshire against the Lancashire Second XI in the 1959 Minor Counties Championship. He played Minor counties cricket for Durham from 1959 to 1971, making 25 Minor Counties Championship appearances. He made his List A debut against Surrey in the 1964 Gillette Cup. Anthony George Nicholson (25 June 1938 – 4 November 1985) was an English first-class cricketer, active 1962 to 1975, who played for Yorkshire as a right arm medium pace bowler and was a member of the club's five County Championship-winning teams between 1962 and 1968. He was born in Dewsbury and died in Harrogate. Nicholson was awarded his county cap after the 1963 season and a benefit for him in 1973 raised £13,214. He made 283 first-class appearances and 120 in limited overs cricket, taking 879 and 173 wickets respectively. Prior to joining Yorkshire, Nicholson was a policeman in Southern Rhodesia. The 1969 Gillette Cup was the seventh Gillette Cup, an English limited overs county cricket tournament. It was held between 10 May and 6 September 1969. The tournament was won by Yorkshire County Cricket Club who defeated Derbyshire County Cricket Club by 69 runs in the final at Lord's. The 1968 Gillette Cup was the sixth Gillette Cup, an English limited overs county cricket tournament. It was held between 27 April and 7 September 1968. The tournament was won by Warwickshire County Cricket Club who defeated Sussex County Cricket Club by 4 wickets in the final at Lord's. The newly launched London Weekend Television won the rights to show the final throughout the ITV network, considered a major coup when set alongside the strong association the BBC then had with cricket (and would for another thirty years).
