James Davis (fencer)
James-Andrew Davis (born 3 July 1991) is a British fencer, European champion in 2014. He competed in men's foil at the 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics. Career Davis was born and brought up in Barnet, North London. He became interested in fencing at the age of four, while waiting for his mother to pick up his brother for his own sport at a Saturday club and fenced at clubs including RLS Fencing and Finchley Foils. In 2008 he became the first Briton to climb a podium at European Cadet Championships with a bronze medal in Rovigo. He claimed another bronze medal, this time with the team, at the 2010 Junior European Championships in Lobnya. Beginning preparation for the 2012 Summer Olympics on home ground, in London, Davis was ordered by his coach to lose weight or be dropped from Team GB. Peter Joppich
Peter Joppich (born 21 December 1982) is a German foil fencer. Biography Joppich is a five-time World Champion in Foil with four Individual titles and one Team title. He won the gold medal in 2010 World Fencing Championships after beating Lei Sheng 15–11 at Championnats du Monde, Paris. He was also the winner of the World Fencing Championships in St Petersburg in 2007 after beating Andrea Baldini 15–9, Turin in 2006 after beating Baldini 15–14, and Havana in 2003. He won his first World Championship Individual Title when he was just 21 years old. Enzo Lefort
Enzo Lefort (born 29 September 1991) is a French right-handed foil fencer. Lefort is a four-time team European champion, 2014 team world champion, and two-time individual world champion. A three-time Olympian, Lefort is a 2016 team Olympic silver medalist and 2021 team Olympic champion. Lefort competed in the 2012 London Olympic Games, the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games, and the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. Career Lefort was born in French Guiana. He discovered fencing when he was five, while watching fellow French Caribbean Laura Flessel win the gold medal in the 1996 Summer Olympics at Atlanta. He began fencing at CREPS in Les Abymes, Guadeloupe, where he trained under Ruddy Plicoste along with Jean-Paul Tony Helissey and Ysaora Thibus. Alexander Choupenitch
Alexander Choupenitch (; born 2 May 1994) is a Czech right-handed foil fencer, two-time Olympian, and 2021 individual Olympic bronze medalist. Personal life Choupenitch is the son of Belarusian-born opera singers who both worked at National Theatre Brno. The unusual form of his name–Choupenitch instead of Šupenič–is due to the fact that papers issued to his parents for travelling through Europe used a French spelling. His first sport, basketball, left him frustrated as he seldom got to touch the ball, so his mother took him to the fencing section of Sokol Brno when he was eight. He later learnt that his step-grandmother, Tatyana Petrenko-Samusenko, was a three-time Olympic foil champion for the USSR. Greg Massialas
Gregory David Massialas (born May 20, 1956) is an American foil fencer and fencing coach. Career A reserve for the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, he was set to make his Olympic début at the Moscow Games in 1980, but was prevented from doing so by the American government's decision to boycott the games. He was one of 461 athletes to receive a Congressional Gold Medal many years later. He competed at the 1984 and 1988 Summer Olympics. He is the founder and head coach of the Massialas Foundation (MTEAM), a fencing club in San Francisco. Since 2012 he is the national coach of the United States senior foil team, which includes his own son Alexander. He brought the club to a No.1 world ranking, with each of its four members ranking individually in the Top 10 and Miles Chamley-Watson winning the 2013 World Fencing Championships. The 43rd FIE Fencing World Cup began in October 2013 and concluded in July 2014 at the 2014 World Fencing Championships held in Kazan. The World Cup medals were awarded during the FIE's gala dinner in Rome at Palazzo Colonna on 22 November 2014.
