James Cuffe, 1st Baron Tyrawley
James Cuffe, 1st Baron Tyrawley (1747 – 15 June 1821) was an Irish peer and politician. Life Cuffe's father was James Cuffe (died 1762), James Cuffe of Elmhall and Ballinrobe Castle and his mother was Elizabeth, daughter of Sir Arthur Gore, 2nd Baronet and Elizabeth Annesley, and sister of Arthur Gore, 1st Earl of Arran. From 1768 until 1797 Cuffe represented Mayo (Parliament of Ireland constituency), Mayo in the Irish House of Commons. In 1776, he stood also for Donegal Borough (Parliament of Ireland constituency), Donegal Borough and in 1783 for Tuam (Parliament of Ireland constituency), Tuam, however, chose both times not to sit. He was created Baron Tyrawley on 7 November 1797 and was elected as one of the first representative peers for Ireland in 1800. He was appointed Lord Lieutenant of Mayo, Governor of Mayo, a position he held until 1821. James Cuffe (died 1762)
James Cuffe (1707 – 20 March 1762), of Elmhall and Ballinrobe, was an Irish landowner in County Mayo. He was the son of Gerald Cuffe, who built Elmhall and his wife Dorothy Wynne, and grandson of Sir James Cuffe (died 1678), James Cuffe, who was granted the lands of Ballinrobe in 1667. On 30 April 1731 he married Elizabeth, daughter of Sir Arthur Gore, 2nd Baronet and Elizabeth Annesley; they were the parents of James Cuffe, 1st Baron Tyrawley and six other children. Sir Lucius O'Brien, 3rd Baronet
Sir Lucius Henry O'Brien, 3rd Baronet PC (Ire) (2 September 1731 – 15 January 1795) was an Irish baronet and politician for 34 years. He was a man of quite different parts to his father, an intellectual, a Greek and Latin scholar and a brilliant politician. He entered S.C. at Trinity College, Dublin, on 9th. July 1748, at the age of sixteen. He became a B.A. Vernon in 1752. Joined the Irish bar in 1758, and succeeded his father, as 3rd. Baronet of Dromoland, becoming a Privy councillor and M.P. Sir Henry Lynch-Blosse, 7th Baronet (14 October 1749 – 1788), was an Irish baronet and politician. Biography Lynch-Blosse was born in London, the first child of Robert Lynch and Elizabeth Barker. Elizabeth was the daughter and heir of Francis Barker, and niece and heir of Tobias Blosse. It was a condition of the marriage that Robert would assume the additional surname of Blosse and conform to Protestantism. Robert changed his surname by a private Act of Parliament of 1748. Henry, better known as Harry, spent the first few years of his life in his mother's home in Suffolk, England. Robert "Bob" Longfield is an American composer, arranger, conductor and educator, best known for his compositions for Concert Band and String Orchestra. He is currently the Music Director of the Greater Miami Symphonic Band. Early life and education Longfield was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Colonel Henry Vaughan Brooke (1743 – 27 November 1807) was an Irish politician. Barry Yelverton, 1st Viscount Avonmore, PC (Ire) KC (28 May 1736 – 19 August 1805), was an Irish judge and politician, who gave his name to Yelverton's Act 1782, which effectively repealed Poynings' Law and thus restored the independence of the Parliament of Ireland. This achievement was destroyed by the Act of Union 1800, which Yelverton supported. By doing so, he gravely harmed his reputation for integrity, which had already been damaged by his leading role in the conviction and execution for treason of the United Irishman William Orr, which is now seen as a major miscarriage of justice. George Jackson (Irish Politician)
George Jackson (1761–1805) was an Irish politician. His was the eldest son of George Jackson and his wife Jane Cuffe, daughter of James Cuffe and Elizabeth Gore, and sister of James Cuffe, 1st Baron Tyrawley and entered Trinity College, Dublin in 1777. He succeeded his uncle Lord Tyrawley in representing Mayo in the Irish House of Commons from 1798 to the Act of Union in 1801. He supported the Union, but received relatively little by way of reward. He was subsequently a Member of Parliament for Mayo in the first Parliament of the United Kingdom until 1802. His application to be made a baronet was unsuccessful., but despite this disappointment, he was generally seen as a reliable supporter of the Government in the Commons.
