Henry Vaughan Brooke
Colonel Henry Vaughan Brooke (1743 – 27 November 1807) was an Irish politician. Background Brooke originated from a family with roots in the counties Fermanagh as well as Donegal and was the son of Basil Brooke.Lowry-Corry (1887), pp. 303–304 His mother was Jane, daughter of Henry Wrey. He was educated at Trinity College Dublin until 1761 and when his father died seven years later, he inherited the latter's estates. Brooke was unmarried and following his death was succeeded by his nephew Thomas Grove, who thereupon assumed his uncle's surname. Career Brooke entered the Irish House of Commons in 1776, having been elected for Donegal Borough.Johnston-Lilk (2006), p. 73 In 1783, he stood successfully for both County Donegal as well as Augher, choosing to sit for the former constituency. Fermanagh
Historically, Fermanagh ( ga, Fir Manach), as opposed to the modern County Fermanagh, was a kingdom of Gaelic Ireland, associated geographically with present-day County Fermanagh. ''Fir Manach'' originally referred to a distinct kin group of alleged Laigin origins. The kingdom of Fermanagh was formed in the 10th century, out of the larger kingdom of Uí Chremthainn, which was part of the overkingdom of Airgíalla.MacCotter, Paul. Arthur Gore, 3rd Earl Of Arran
Arthur Saunders Gore, 3rd Earl of Arran (20 July 1761 – 20 January 1837), styled Viscount Sudley from 1773 to 1809, was an Irish peer and Tory Member of Parliament. Life Arran was the eldest son of Arthur Saunders Gore, 2nd Earl of Arran, by his first wife the Hon. Catherine Annesley. In 1783, he was elected to the Irish House of Commons for Baltimore and Donegal Borough. He chose to sit for the first and represented the constituency until 1790. In 1800, he was returned for County Donegal until the Union with Great Britain took place at the end of the year. Subsequently, he sat then for County Donegal in the House of Commons of the United Kingdom to 1806. In 1809 he succeeded his father as third Earl of Arran, but as this was an Irish peerage it did not entitle him to a seat in the House of Lords of the United Kingdom. Sir James Stewart, 7th Baronet ( – 20 May 1827) was an Irish politician. Early life Stewart was born the eldest son and heir of Sir Annesley Stewart, 6th Baronet of Fort Stewart, County Donegal, and Mary ( Moore) Stewart. His father was an MP for Ballynakill in the Parliament of Ireland. He was educated privately and at Trinity College, Dublin and succeeded his father in 1801. His paternal grandparents were Gertrude ( Baillie) Moore (a daughter of Capt. Francis Baillie) and John Moore of Drumbanagher, also an MP for Ballynakill. Career From 1783 to 1790, he represented Enniskillen in the Parliament of Ireland. He was appointed High Sheriff of Donegal for 1799 and served in that role until 1800. Sir Samuel Hayes, 1st Baronet (1737–1807) of Drumboe Castle, County Donegal was a Baronet in the Baronetage of Ireland and Member of Parliament for Augher in the Irish House of Commons between 1783 and 1790. Family Hayes’s father Charles Hayes of Bridgwater, Somerset, who married Deborah Holditch of Totnes, Devon, was vice-consul in Lisbon.
