James Crowden
James Gee Pascoe Crowden CVO (14 November 1927 – 24 September 2016) was an English former oarsman who competed for Great Britain in the 1952 Summer Olympics. He was Lord Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire. Crowden was born in Tilney All Saints, near Wisbech in 1927. He grew up in Peterborough and attended King's School before going on to Bedford School. He had his first victory at Henley Royal Regatta in 1946 as part of the school crew which won the Princess Elizabeth Challenge Cup, which that year was presented by the future Queen herself. He then went to Pembroke College, Cambridge. In 1951 he was part of the winning Cambridge boat in the Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race in the year when Oxford sank, and the umpire stopped the race and ordered a re-row the following Monday. He went to the United States to compete against American college crews at Yale and Harvard and won Silver Goblets at Henley partnering Brian Lloyd. Hugh Duberly
Sir Archibald Hugh Duberly (born 4 April 1942), is a British farmer, campaigner and politician. Duberly was elected as an independent local councillor for Staughton in Huntingdonshire from 1979 until 2004. During that time, Sir Hugh was President of the Country Landowners' Association, serving from 1993 to 1995. Sir Hugh was a Commissioner of the Crown Estate for seven years between 2002–09, when he was replaced by Gareth Baird. He is the President of the East of England Agricultural Society for 2015/16. Sir Hugh was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant for Cambridgeshire in 1989. He served as High Sheriff of Cambridgeshire for 1991–92. He took over from James Crowden as Lord Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire in 2003, serving in the position until 4 April 2017 upon his replacement by Julie Spence. Sir Arthur Gregory George Marshall, OBE, (4 December 1903 – 16 March 2007) was a British aviation pioneer and businessman, who served as the chairman of Marshall Aerospace between 1942 and 1989. Coxless Four
A coxless four is a rowing boat used in the sport of competitive rowing. It is designed for four persons who propel the boat with sweep oars, without a coxswain. The crew consists of four rowers, each having one oar. There are two rowers on the stroke side (rower's right hand side) and two on the bow side (rower's lefthand side). There is no coxswain, but the rudder is controlled by one of the crew, normally with the rudder cable attached to the toe of one of their shoes which can pivot about the ball of the foot, moving the cable left or right. The steersman may row at bow, who has the best vision when looking over their shoulder, or on straighter courses stroke may steer, since they can point the stern of the boat at some landmark at the start of the course.
