James Butler, 1st Earl of Ormond (17 October 13046 January 1338), was a noble in the Peerage of Ireland. He was born in Arklow, Wicklow, Ireland and died in Gowran, Kilkenny, Ireland. Family James Butler was the son of Edmund Butler, Earl of Carrick, (126813 September 1321), Justiciar of Ireland and Joan FitzGerald, Countess of Carrick. James Hubert Theobald Charles Butler, 7th Marquess of Ormonde, MBE (19 April 1899 – 25 October 1997) was the son of Reverend Lord Theobald Butler and Lady Annabella Brydon Gordon. He was the 7th and last holder of the title ''Marquess of Ormonde'' and the 25th holder of the title ''Earl of Ormond.'' The title ''Earl of Ormond'' is one of the oldest titles in the peerages in the British Isles, having first been granted to James Butler, 1st Earl of Ormond, who married a granddaughter of Edward I of England. Military service Charles Butler was trained as a British Army officer at Sandhurst and received a commission as a lieutenant in the King's Royal Rifle Corps. James "Cannonball" Butler (May 4, 1943 – February 10, 2014) was an American professional football player who was a running back for eight seasons in the National Football League (NFL), with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Atlanta Falcons and the St. Louis Cardinals. James Butler (born June 21, 1960) is an American former track and field sprinter who specialized in the 200-meter dash. He was an NCAA champion and winner at the Liberty Bell Classic Olympic boycott event. He represented the United States at the 1987 IAAF World Indoor Championships and placed fifth. He set a 200 m best of 20.23 seconds in 1982. College Collegiately he ran for Oklahoma State University and was the school's first ever winner of the 200-meter dash at the NCAA Men's Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships, doing so in 1982 with a wind-assisted run of 20.07 seconds. James Butler (1680 – 17 May 1741), was a British politician who sat in the House of Commons at various times between 1705 and 1741. Butler was the son of James Butler of Amberley Castle and his wife Grace Caldecott, daughter of Richard Caldecott of Hawkhurst, Kent. His father, who had been MP for Arundel died in 1696. He was probably admitted at Trinity Hall, Cambridge in 1698. He married Elizabeth Bennet, widow of Sir Richard Bennet, 3rd Baronet and daughter of Sir Charles Caesar of Bennington, Hertfordshire on 31 January 1704. He bought the estate of Warminghurst in 1792 or 1707, from William Penn. A Whig supporter, he returned as Member of Parliament for Arundel at the 1705 general election but did not stand in 1708. Life and career Butler received his bachelor's degree in history with honors and distinction from the United States Naval Academy in 1995, graduating in the top 10% of his class which earned him a spot in flight school. While waiting to begin training he received a master's degree in history from the University of Maryland in 1996.
