Jalil Shahnaz
Jalil Shahnaz (22 May 1921 – 17 June 2013; Persian: جلیل شهناز) was a Persian classical music musician and a virtuoso of the Persian musical instrument, tar. Biography Jalil Shahnaz was born in 1921 in Isfahan, Persia (Iran). Shahnaz studied under the supervision of his brother, Hossein Shahnaz, and befriended Hassan Kassai, a ney player. According to the book ''Persian Musicians'' by Pejman Akbarzadeh: "Shahnaz started his activities in 1949 at Radio Isfahan and in 1957 he was invited to cooperate with Radio Tehran. In the capital he worked as a soloist at ''Golha program'' and also later he was quite active at Persian music programs of Shiraz/Persepolis Arts Festival. Shahnaz in the late 1980s became a member of "Persian Music Maestros Ensemble". The ensemble performed various concerts inside and outside of Persia." Shajarian
Mohammad-Reza Shajarian ( fa, محمدرضا شجريان; , 23 September 1940 – 8 October 2020) was an Iranian singer and master (''Ostad'') of Persian traditional music. He was also known for his skills in Persian calligraphy and humanitarian activities. Shajarian started his singing career in 1959 at Radio Khorasan, rising to prominence in the 1960s with his distinct singing style. His main teachers were Ahmad Ebadi, Esmaeil Mehrtash, Abdollah Davami, and Nour-Ali Boroumand. He also learned the vocal styles of singers from previous generations, including Reza Gholi Mirza Zelli, Fariborz Manouchehri, Ghamar Molouk Vaziri, Eghbal Azar, and Taj Isfahani. He has cited legendary Persian tar soloist Jalil Shahnaz as highly influential to his development, indicating that he has often tried to mimic Shahnaz's playing style in his singing. Shiraz Arts Festival
The Shiraz Festival of Arts (Persian language, Persian: جشنواره هنر شیراز) was an annual international summer arts festival, held in Iran bringing about the encounter between the East and the West. It was held from 1967 to 1977 in the city of Shiraz and Persepolis in central Iran by the initiative of Shahbanu Farah Pahlavi. History Accompanied by symposia and debates, the festival program included music, dance, drama and film, performed in a variety of locations in Shiraz and surrounding areas. Pejman Akbarzadeh
Pejman Akbarzadeh ( fa, پژمان اكبرزاده, born 1980) is a Iranians in the Netherlands, Persian-Dutch pianist, journalist, music historian and documentary maker. Early life Born in Shiraz, Iran, Shiraz in 1980, Akbarzadeh had his first music lessons at the age of nine from Gholam Loghmani and later from Bahram Nasrollahi. In 2001 moved to Tehran and continued his piano studies under Farman Behboud. "Persian Musicians" project At age fifteen he started to research the works and activities of twentieth-century Persian people, Persian (Iranian peoples, Iranian) composers and conductors. Three years later he published the first volume of his projected four-volume work, ''Persian Musicians'' which became a source for various publications such as ''Encyclopedia Iranica''.
