Jalawla
Jalawla ( ar, جلولاء, ku, ,Celewla ,گوڵاڵە also known as Jalula) is a town in Diyala Governorate, Iraq. It is located on the Diyala River, north of Sadiyah. The town is populated by Arabs, Kurds and Turkmens. History Early history Jalawla was the center of the Sasanian Šāḏ Qobāḏ Province and the Khurasan Road crossed the town. The Sasanians ultimately lost control over the town after the Battle of Jalula in 637 to Muslim invaders. Modern history Jalawla has been the center town of Jalawla District since its creation with a Republican decree in 1958. Prior to the decree, Jalawla was part of Saadiya District. Before the launch of the Ba'athist Arabization campaigns in North Iraq in the 1960s, the town had a Kurdish majority. In the 1970s, Iraq deported a large portion of the Kurdish population of the town after having denaturalized them as Arabs were encouraged to settle instead, to intensify the Arabization of the town. 1998–99 Iraq FA Cup
The 1998–99 Iraq FA Cup was the 22nd edition of the Iraq FA Cup as a clubs-only competition. The tournament was won by Al-Zawraa for the second time in a row and for the 13th time in their history, beating Al-Talaba 1–0 after extra time in the final with a golden goal by Mohamed Jassim Mahdi, Mohamed Jassim. Al-Zawraa also won the 1998–99 Iraqi Premier League to complete the double. On 14 December 1998, Al-Shorta broke the record for the most goals scored in a single half of a match in Iraqi football, putting 10 goals past Al-Bahri SC, Al-Bahri in the first 45 minutes as the game ended 10–1. Hashim Ridha and Arkan Mahmoud both scored hat-tricks while Younis Abid Ali scored a brace and Abdul-Hussein Jawad and Qais Essa, Qais Issa scored one each. 2002–03 Iraq FA Cup
The 2002–03 Iraq FA Cup was the 25th edition of the Iraq FA Cup as a clubs-only competition, the main domestic cup in Iraqi football. It kicked off on 2 September 2002, and the final was played on 23 August 2003 at the Franso Hariri Stadium in Erbil rather than at Al-Shaab Stadium in Baghdad due to security reasons. Al-Talaba were the defending champions of the cup having beaten Al-Shorta 1–0 in the 2002 final, and the same was repeated in 2003 as Al-Talaba beat Al-Shorta 1–0 again to earn their second title. The competition was halted for more than six months after the quarter-finals due to the American invasion of Iraq, but the Iraq Football Association decided to complete the tournament, reducing the semi-finals to a single leg and moving the remaining matches to the safer northern city of Erbil. The 2019–20 Iraq FA Cup was the 30th edition of the Iraqi knockout football cup as a clubs-only competition, the main domestic cup in Iraqi football, featuring a total of 20 teams from the Iraqi Premier League and 48 teams from the Iraqi First Division League and Iraqi Second Division League. The tournament started on 12 September 2019, but was cancelled during the Round of 32 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
