Sultan Mahmud Airport
Sultan Mahmud Airport is an airport in Kuala Nerus, Terengganu, Malaysia. The airport serves Kuala Terengganu which is located away. In 2017, it handled 943,660 passengers with 11,485 aircraft movements. It was named after the 16th Sultan of Terengganu, Almarhum Mahmud of Terengganu, Sultan Mahmud Al-Muktafi Billah Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah, who ruled from 1979 to 1998. In January 2008, the Malaysian government approved RM200 million to upgrade the airport. This includes funding to extend the runway and upgrade the terminal of the airport. The terminal was designed to handle 2 million passengers every year. Malaysia Airlines has agreed with Tabung Haji that it will also bring passengers to Mecca via Jeddah and Medina in Saudi Arabia. Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium ( ms, Stadium Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin) is a Football stadium in Kuala Nerus, Terengganu, Malaysia. Together with the adjacent Mini Stadium, it forms the centrepiece of Terengganu Sports Complex. It was used for football matches. Jalan Tengku Mizan, Federal Route 65 (formerly Terengganu State Route T4), is a major highway in Kuala Nerus and Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu, Malaysia. The highway connects Bulatan, Kuala Nerus in the north to Bukit Besar, Kuala Terengganu in the south. It was named after Yang di-Pertuan Muda (Crown Prince) of Terengganu at that time, Tengku Mizan Zainal Abidin from 1979 to 1998 (now Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin of Terengganu). It has been a toll-free highway since toll collection was abolished on 1999. The highway has a motorcycle lane. Seberang Takir
Seberang Takir ( Jawi: سبرڠ تاكير) is a small town in Kuala Nerus District, Terengganu, Malaysia. The town consists of several fishing villages namely Kampung Baru Seberang Takir, Kampung Hulu Takir, Kampung Padang Takir, Kampung Batin and Kampung Seberang Takir itself. History The name "Seberang" means "across" referring to the place (Seberang Takir) being across the Terengganu river separating it from the city of Kuala Terengganu. The name "takir" however means "cut" so the full name of the town is "Across to cut". Based on Terengganu history, Seberang Takir is a place where prisoners were held to serve capital punishment for their crimes by cutting off hands or feet.
