The Jalan Ampang Muslim Cemetery ( ms, Tanah Perkuburan Islam Jalan Ampang; Jawi: تانه ڤرقبورن اسلام جالن امڤاڠ) is a cemetery at the Kuala Lumpur city centre, Malaysia. It is located at Jalan Ampang near Kuala Lumpur City Centre. The cemetery was established on 1819. Notable burials * Tan Sri Datuk Amar P. Ramlee – film actor, director, singer, and songwriter. Saloma Link
Saloma Link ( ms, Pintasan Saloma) is a combined pedestrian and bicyclist bridge across the Klang River in Kuala Lumpur. Directed northwest to southeast it joins the districts of Kampung Baru (northwest) and Kuala Lumpur City Centre (southeast). On the southwestern end a ramp leads up to the bridge, whereas on the northwest there are stairs and an elevator from street level. The bridge’s architecture is inspired by the sireh junjung (betel nut leaf arrangement) concept, which is an integral part of a Malay wedding. At night, the bridge cannot be accessed (from 01:00 until 05:00 from Monday to Saturday and 0:30 until 05:00 on Sundays and public holidays). Abdul Mubin Sheppard , born Mervyn Cecil ffrank Sheppard, pen name M. C. '' ff'' Sheppard, (21 June 1905 – 11 September 1994) was a Malaysian World War II veteran and prisoner of war, as well as a renowned historian and academician. Life Early life Mervyn Sheppard was born in Ireland on June 21, 1905. He received his early education at Marlborough College before continuing on to Cambridge University. He joined the Malayan Civil Services (MCS) in 1928, a year after passing his qualification exam in London. During his time there, he developed a strong attachment to the country and its people. He married Rosemary Oakeley in Singapore's St Andrew's Cathedral on 27 January 1939. Lavender, their daughter and his only child, was born in October 1941. Their union lasted until their deaths. Elyas Omar
Elyas bin Omar (16 November 1936 – 15 May 2018) was the third Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia as well the longest serving as Mayor in Kuala Lumpur history. He served for a period of 10 years. Elyas was the president of the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) and during his tenure, Malaysia won the Thomas Cup in 1992. In football, Elyas was president of Kuala Lumpur FA when it won the Malaysia Cup three times in a row from 1987 to 1989. Siti Mariam binti Ismail ( Jawi: سيتي مريم اسماعيل ; 20 April 1933 – 1 December 2015), better known by her stage name Mariani, was an early Malaysian-Singaporean Malay actress, singer and model popular during the 1950s and 1960s. She was the older sister of Biduanda Saloma and sister-in-law of P.Ramlee. Dato' Mustapha Azahari bin Maarof ( Jawi: مصطفى ازاهاري معروف; 1 January 1935 – 15 December 2014) was a Malaysian actor. He appeared in Singapore’s '' Hang Tuah'' (1959), '' 1957: Hati Malaya'' (2007) and '' Chermin'' (2007), among many other films. Maarof won the Veterans' Award presented at the 10th Malaysian Film Festival. Salma Ismail
Tan Sri Salma binti Ismail (19 December 1918 – 20 July 2014) was a Malaysian medical doctor and the first Malaysian Malay woman to qualify as a doctor. She became one of the first Malay general practitioners to open a private practice in 1967. Biography Salma Ismail was born on 19 December 1918 in Alor Setar, Kedah. She attended Kampung Baru Girls' School, Kolej Sultan Abdul Hamid, and Sultanah Asma Secondary School, where one of the houses now bears her name. She completed the Junior Cambridge examinations in 1933 and Senior Cambridge in 1935, she was the first girl from Kedah to pass the Senior Cambridge with a distinction. The Governor of the Central Bank of Malaysia is the chief executive of Malaysia's central bank and the ''ex-officio'' chairperson of its Central Board of Directors.
