Jalal Pishvaian
Jalal Pishvaian (10 June 1930 – 11 December 2021) was an Iranian actor. He acted in over 80 films. Life and career Jalal Pishvaian was born on 10 June 1930 in Tehran, Iran. Prior to acting, he owned a gym and was involved in boxing and Judo. Pishvaian is associated with Iranian New Wave, Persian film, and popular film; he often played villainous characters. One of his first films was in 1962 with ''A Girl Is Screaming''. Before 1978 and the Iranian Revolution, his other notable films were ''The Hungry Wolves'' (1962), '' Qeysar'' (1969; English: ''Caesar''), ''Khodahafez Rafigh'' (1971; English: ''Goodbye Friend''), and '' Reza, the Motorcyclist'' (1970). Tehran
Tehran (; fa, تهران ) is the largest city in Tehran Province and the capital of Iran. Pahlavi Iran
The Imperial State of Iran ( fa, کشور شاهنشاهی ایران, ), also known as the Imperial State of Persia, was the official name of the Iranian state under the rule of the Pahlavi dynasty. It was formed in 1925 and lasted until 1979, when the Pahlavis were overthrown as a result of the Islamic Revolution, which abolished Iran's continuous monarchy and established the present-day Islamic Republic of Iran. The Pahlavi dynasty was founded in 1925 by Reza Shah, a former brigadier-general of the Persian Cossack Brigade. Iranian New Wave
Iranian New Wave refers to a movement in Iranian cinema. It started in 1964 with Hajir Darioush's second film ''Serpent's Skin'', which was based on D.H. Lawrence's ''Lady Chatterley's Lover'' featuring Fakhri Khorvash and Jamshid Mashayekhi. Darioush's two important early social documentaries ''But Problems Arose'' in 1965, dealing with the cultural alienation of the Iranian youth, and ''Face 75'', a critical look at the westernization of the rural culture, which was a prizewinner at the 1965 Berlin Film Festival, also contributed significantly to the establishment of the New Wave. Iranian Revolution
The Iranian Revolution ( fa, انقلاب ایران, Enqelâb-e Irân, ), also known as the Islamic Revolution ( fa, انقلاب اسلامی, Enqelâb-e Eslâmī), was a series of events that culminated in the overthrow of the Pahlavi dynasty under Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, and the replacement of his government with an Islamic republic under the rule of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, a leader of one of the factions in the revolt. The revolution was supported by various Organizations of the Iranian Revolution, leftist and Islamist organizations. After the 1953 Iranian coup d'état, Pahlavi had aligned with the United States and the Western Bloc to rule more firmly as an authoritarian monarch. He relied heavily on support from the United States to hold on to power which he held for a further 26 years. Qeysar ( fa, قیصر, italic=yes; ; alternative titles in English include: Qaiser, and Gheisar) is a 1969 film by Iranian filmmaker Masoud Kimiai. The film was considered a "landmark in the Iranian cinema" and led to a new trend for brooding ''noir'' dramas in which outraged family honor is avenged. Behrooz Vossoughi as the eponymous hero Qeysar, became a well known actor in Iranian cinema. Sadegh Khalkhali, an Iranian Shia cleric and politician, spoke openly in 1980 about this film no longer to be shown after the Iranian Revolution.
