Jakub Wawrzyniak
Jakub Wawrzyniak (; born 7 July 1983) is a Polish former footballer. He usually played as a left-back or center-back. Earlier in his career, he also appeared a few times as a striker and as a midfielder. Club career Wawrzyniak played for Legia Warsaw from fall 2007 to the end of 2008. On 4 June 2009 the Disciplinary Committee of the Greek Superliga suspended him for three months on doping charges. His suspension was later extended to one year. Panathinaikos announced they would not take up their buy option on the player, thus leaving Wawrzyniak to return to Legia Warsaw. The substance in question is not prohibited by the World Anti-Doping Agency. Wawrzyniak appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne. In December 2009 the court shortened his suspension to the original three months. The player intends to pursue compensation from the Greek association. Kutno is a city located in central Poland with 42,704 inhabitants (2021) and an area of . 2008–09 Ekstraklasa
The 2008–09 Ekstraklasa was the seventy-fifth season of top-tier football in Poland. It began on 8 August 2008 and ended on 30 May 2009. The season was originally scheduled to start on 25 July 2008. However, the first two rounds of games were postponed because of legal uncertainties about the number of teams in the competition following an association-wide corruption scandal. Wisła Kraków won the league for the second time in a row and for the 12th time in their history after defeating Śląsk Wrocław 2–0 in the final match of the season. Legia Warsaw finished as runners-up and qualified for the second qualifying round of 2009–10 UEFA Europa League. Lech Poznań finished third and qualified for the third qualifying round of the Europa League after winning the Polish Cup. The 2007–08 Ekstraklasa started in July 2007 and ended in mid-May 2008. It was run by the Ekstraklasa SA. The Polish Champion will qualify for the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round. The runner-up and winner of the Polish Cup will qualify for the UEFA Cup first qualifying round. The third placed team will qualify for the second round of the UEFA Intertoto Cup. Poland Ekstraklasa (), meaning "Extra Class" in Polish, named PKO Ekstraklasa since the 2019–20 season due to its sponsorship by PKO Bank Polski, is the top Polish professional league for men's association football teams. Contested by 18 clubs, operating a system of promotion and relegation with the I liga, seasons start in July, and end in May or June the following year. Teams play a total of 34 games each. Games are played on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays. The winner of the Ekstraklasa qualifies for the Polish SuperCup. The league is now operated by the Ekstraklasa Spółka Akcyjna. Błękitni Stargard is a Polish association football sports club from Stargard. The men's team is currently playing in the fourth-tier III liga, following their 2020–21 relegation from the II liga, the reserve men's team in the fifth division whereas the women's team is in the fourth division. II liga (Druga Liga, ), currently named eWinner II liga due to sponsorship reasons by eWinner, is a Polish football league that sits at the third tier of the Polish football league system. Until the end of the 2007–08 season ''II Liga'' referred to a league at the 2nd tier, although this changed with the formation of the Ekstraklasa as the top level league in Poland. Currently, II liga is below I liga and above III liga. Since the 2014/15 season there is one group making up the II Liga unlike in previous seasons when there were two groups (''West'' and ''East'').
