Jakokoyak
Jakokoyak was a project created by Welsh musician and producer Rhys Edwards, with leanings towards psychedelic folk, sometimes classified as folktronica and lo-fi experimental electronic music. Edwards also ran the now defunct Peski Records label. He is married to musician Gwenno Saunders and lives in Cardiff, Wales. Career A native of Mold, Flintshire and raised on Anglesey, Edwards began recording in his second year of university. Working and recording alone, he began exploring old keyboards and effects pedals. It was these recordings that subsequently gave him the passport to a postgraduate music course at Bangor. In 2003 he released his debut album, ''Am Cyfan Dy Pethau Prydferth'' (the title was taken from a badly translated poster on the walls of the Cardiff Union). Gwenno Saunders
Gwenno Mererid Saunders (born 23 May 1981) is a Welsh musician, known by the stage name Gwenno. She has released three critically-acclaimed albums as a solo artist: Welsh Music Prize winner'' Y Dydd Olaf'' (2014); ''Le Kov'' (2018), her first album in Cornish; and '' Tresor'' (2022), which was shortlisted for the Mercury Prize. She was also a singer in the indie pop group The Pipettes, whose debut '' We Are the Pipettes'' was described by Pitchfork as "a classic modern indie-pop album." Biography Saunders was born in Cardiff. The Pop Factory
The Pop Factory (TPF) is a music and media complex in Porth, Rhondda, South Wales, which gave its name to a pop music TV show of the early 2000s. The music venue was founded by Emyr Afan and his wife Mair Afan. The Pop Factory was a converted soft drinks factory, formerly belonging to the "Welsh Hills" brand (which later became "Corona"). The pop factory was situated in the Thomas and Evans building. Thomas and Evans, were both buried in the Rhondda, also owned Bronwydd House and Porth Park. It was officially opened by Tom Jones in 2000, by smashing a bottle of dandelion and burdock against its walls. The weekly shows were first broadcast by BBC1 Wales before being picked up by HTV/ITV Wales. The show was presented by Steve Jones and Liz Fuller, with Welsh bands like Feeder, Stereophonics, Lostprophets, Kosheen and The Kennedy Soundtrack appearing. Sunday Best Recordings is a British music label, founded by DJ Rob da Bank and Sarah Bolshi in 2000. The label has always been renowned for its expansive roster and an unswerving dedication to the leftfield. History Rob da Bank originally ran Sunday Best as a leftfield London club night from 1995, hosting DJs such as Fatboy Slim, Basement Jaxx and Andrew Weatherall. Celebrating an ‘anything goes’ music policy, the club night formed an essential blueprint for the Sunday Best label. Super Furry Animals
Super Furry Animals are a Welsh rock band formed in Cardiff in 1993. For the duration of their professional career, the band consisted of Gruff Rhys (lead vocals, guitar), Huw Bunford (lead guitar, vocals), Guto Pryce (bass guitar), Cian Ciaran (keyboards, synthesisers, various electronics, occasional guitar, vocals), Dafydd Ieuan (drums, vocals). BBC Radio Cymru is a Welsh language radio network owned and operated by BBC Cymru Wales, a division of the BBC. It broadcasts on two stations across Wales on FM, DAB, digital TV and online.
