Sunday Best (music Company)
Sunday Best Recordings is a British music label, founded by DJ Rob da Bank and Sarah Bolshi in 2000. The label has always been renowned for its expansive roster and an unswerving dedication to the leftfield. History Rob da Bank originally ran Sunday Best as a leftfield London club night from 1995, hosting DJs such as Fatboy Slim, Basement Jaxx and Andrew Weatherall. Celebrating an ‘anything goes’ music policy, the club night formed an essential blueprint for the Sunday Best label. Rob went on to co-create Bestival and Camp Bestival and presently broadcasts as a radio DJ on Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide FM after departing from BBC Radio One. Sarah Bolshi cut her teeth working in A&R at Big Life Records, mentored by Jazz Summers, working on acts like The Orb and De Le Soul before establishing her first breakbeat label Bolshi Records in 1996. The Ghost (Faroese Band)
The Ghost is a Faroese electropop duo consisting of Filip Mortensen on vocals and Urbanus Olsen on electronics. Following their appearance at the Iceland Airwaves music festival, held in Reykjavík, Iceland, the duo received a recording contract with the British Sunday Best record label. The duo also appeared at the G! Festival, held in Syðrugøta, Faroe Islands, in 2009 and 2010. In addition, they have performed as the warm-up band for The Wombats, a British indie-rock band; Ladytron, an English electronic band; and Vampire Weekend, an American indie-rock band. Mary Epworth is an English singer, songwriter, and composer. In 2012, Epworth released her debut album, ''Dream Life''. Strong radio support included singles "Black Doe" and "Long Gone" playlisted on BBC Radio 6 Music, and "Black Doe" picked as Zane Lowe's Hottest Record in the World on BBC Radio 1. Career In 2008, Epworth released her debut single "The Saddle Song" on 7. It was included in a top 100 poll by German ''Rolling Stone'' magazine readers. Ebony Bones ('' née'' Thomas; born 9 October 1982) is an English singer-songwriter model, actress, and producer. Her musical style is eclectic and often blends elements of afrobeat, art rock, post-punk, classical, new-wave and electronic. Her debut album '' Bone of My Bones'' was released to positive reviews in 2009. Recorded in India, her second album, '' Behold, a Pale Horse'' was released in September 2013, to critical acclaim. Dub Pistols is an English electronic music band founded in 1996 by Barry Ashworth and Jason O'Bryan. Career The band's first singles were "There's Gonna Be a Riot" and "Best Got Better" in 1998. Their first album, ''Point Blank'', came out the same year. Their albums '' Six Million Ways to Live'' and ''Y4K: Next Level Breaks'' were released in 2001. Rhoda Dakar
Rhoda Dakar (born 1959) is a British singer and musician, best known as the lead singer of The Bodysnatchers, who were signed to the 2 Tone record label. She also worked with The Specials and Special AKA, also 2-Tone artists. Career Dakar, born in Hampstead, London, joined The Bodysnatchers in 1979. Their first single was a double A-side " Let's Do Rock Steady" backed with "Ruder Than You". It reached # 22 in the UK Singles Chart. The band were invited to appear on ''Top of the Pops'', to tour with The Selecter and to record a session for BBC Radio 1 disc jockey John Peel. Beardyman
Darren Alexander Foreman (born 14 May 1982), better known as Beardyman, is a British multivocalist, musician and comedian from London known for his beatboxing skills and use of live looping. Early life After studying at Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School for Boys, Barnet, Foreman moved to Brighton in 2001 to study at the University of Sussex. Although he started making noises at the age of three by imitating Michael Winslow from the ''Police Academy'' movie series, it was seeing Rahzel perform live that convinced Foreman that beatboxing could sustain a whole show rather than simply provide interludes within the context of a broader presentation.
