Jakatta
David Russell Lee (born 18 June 1964) is an English DJ and house music producer, formerly known by the stage name Joey Negro, which he retired in July 2020 following the George Floyd protests. He has released music under a variety of pseudonyms, including Jakatta, Doug Willis, Raven Maize, Sessomatto as well as being part of The Sunburst Band. Lee has scored a number of top 40 hits, among them " American Dream", "So Lonely" and "My Vision", all under the name Jakatta. Biography Early life Lee was born on the Isle of Wight, but raised in Thorpe-le-Soken in Essex. His mother is the novelist Maureen Lee. "My Vision" is a song by English DJ and producer Dave Lee, released on 30 September 2002 under one of his stage names, Jakatta. The track features British musician Seal on vocals. Lee wrote the song along with Seal and Rick Salmon, and it was produced by Lee. "My Vision" experienced commercial success, peaking at number six on the UK Singles Chart and entering the top 50 on the music charts of five other countries. Ever So Lonely
"Ever So Lonely" is a song written by Steve Coe and originally recorded by Monsoon with Sheila Chandra on vocals. The single became a 12 hit in the United Kingdom following a re-release in March 1982, staying on the UK Singles Chart for nine weeks. It was also a hit in Ireland, the Netherlands, and Australia but was never released as a single in the United States. Chandra was aged only 16 and had just left school when her first single was a hit. The band were later signed to Phonogram after being discovered by David Claridge and the song was the first release on his new label "The Mobile Suit Corporation". M-D-Emm were an English electronic music trio which consisted of Dave Lee, Emmanuel Cheal (a.k.a. Mike Cheal) and Mark Ryder. The group's name is a combination of each member's first names; Mark, Dave and Emmanuel. Five of their singles charted on the UK Singles Chart between 1988 and 1992. The group disbanded c. 1990, with Ryder continuing the name as a solo act until 1993. Jakarta is a French electronic dance music, EDM and electro house production team, consisting of Danny Wild, Alan Pride, David Kane, and Dave King. Their work is available on Hypetraxx Records, and has been remixed by Mondotek. Their music is in the tribal house style, but with a childlike voice sung by Sirka Falke (AKA Dookey Mackey), who did other vocal work on other dance tracks during the time. Acid House
Acid house (also simply known as just "acid") is a subgenre of house music developed around the mid-1980s by DJs from Chicago. The style is defined primarily by the squelching sounds and basslines of the Roland TB-303 electronic bass synthesizer-sequencer, an innovation attributed to Chicago producers DJ Pierre of Phuture and Sleezy D. In sound and music, sampling is the reuse of a portion (or sample) of a sound recording in another recording. Samples may comprise elements such as rhythm, melody, speech, sounds or entire bars of music, and may be layered, equalized, sped up or slowed down, repitched, looped, or otherwise manipulated. They are usually integrated using hardware ( samplers) or software such as digital audio workstations. MARRS (stylised M, A, R, R, S) were a 1987 recording collective formed by the groups A.R. Kane and Colourbox, which only released one commercial disc. It became "a one-hit wonder of rare influence" because of their international hit " Pump Up the Volume", which was their only single. History MARRS started in 1987 as an intended collaboration between the groups A.R. Kane and Colourbox, with additional input from DJs Chris "C.J." Mackintosh and Dave Dorrell. However, instead of working together, the two groups ended up recording a track each, then turning it over to the other for additional input. Of the two pieces completed, one, "Anitina", was an A.R.
