M-D-Emm
M-D-Emm were an English electronic music trio which consisted of Dave Lee, Emmanuel Cheal (a.k.a. Mike Cheal) and Mark Ryder. The group's name is a combination of each member's first names; Mark, Dave and Emmanuel. Five of their singles charted on the UK Singles Chart between 1988 and 1992. The group disbanded c. 1990, with Ryder continuing the name as a solo act until 1993. After M-D-Emm, Dave Lee found success as a DJ and producer under numerous aliases including Joey Negro, Jakatta, Doug Willis, Raven Maize, Prospect Park and Sessomatto as well as being part of the Sunburst Band. His most successful releases include " American Dream", "So Lonely", "My Vision" and "Must Be the Music". Mark Ryder also continued as a DJ and producer, releasing records under numerous aliases in the breakbeat hardcore, drum and bass, house and UK garage genres on his Strictly Underground label. Mark Ryder (born Mark James Rydquist) is an English electronic musician, producer and DJ. His best-known release is the UK garage single "Joy" (2001) which reached No. 34 on the UK Singles Chart and number one on the UK Dance Singles Chart. Biography In 1988, Ryder founded his label, Strictly Underground Records. He was in the group M-D-Emm, which formed in 1988 and consisted of Ryder, Dave Lee (a.k.a. UK Garage
UK garage, abbreviated as UKG, is a genre of electronic dance music which originated in England in the early to mid-1990s. The genre was most clearly inspired by garage house, but also incorporates elements from dance-pop, R&B, and jungle. It is defined by percussive, shuffled rhythms with syncopated hi-hats, cymbals, and snares, and may include either 4/4 house kick patterns or more irregular " 2-step" rhythms. Garage tracks also commonly feature 'chopped up' and time-stretched or pitch-shifted vocal samples complementing the underlying rhythmic structure at a tempo usually around 130 BPM. Carrere Records
Carrere Records (french: Disques Carrère, link=no, ) was a French record label which specialized in Euro disco and rock music. The record company was sold to Warner Music Group in the early 1990s. Early days Claude Carrere started working with Annie Chancel in 1962 and renamed her Sheila, who remained his sole artist for a while. He set up Carrere Productions and the records were distributed by Philips Records. In the late 1960s, he created Disques Carrere. In 1972, he produced and distributed his own releases. A lot of singers would be signed alongside Sheila, the most important ones being Ringo (Sheila's husband), Dalida and even Claude François. In 1977, the disco group Sheila and B. Devotion was created and Carrere started exporting his releases.
