Jagadamba Shree Purasakar
Jagadamba Shree Puraskar () is an award given for contribution to Nepali Language, Literature, Art and Folk Culture Field. It is awarded to a person or an organization who has contributed in the field of Nepali language, literature, art or folk culture fields. It is presented alongside Madan Puraskar by Madan Puraskar Pustakalaya, on the day of Ghatasthapana; the first day of Dashain festival. History It is named after Rani Jagadamba Kumari Devi, the wife of General Madan Shumsher JBR an daughter in law of Prime Minister Chandra Shumsher JBR. It was established in 1989 (2045 BS) in Nepal. Nepali singer Narayan Gopal was the first to win this award for his contribution to Nepali music. Since 2075 BS, the award prize has been increased to NRs. 400,000. Lil Bahadur Chettri
Lil Bahadur Chettri () is an Indian writer in the Nepali language from Assam, India. He is a recipient of Sahitya Academy Award for his book ''Brahmaputrako Chheu Chhau''. His other book ''Basain'' is a story of poor villagers who undergo suffering due to the exploitation of the feudal and so-called upper class of the society. It is included in the curriculum of Tribhuwan University, Nepal. In 2016, he was honoured with Jagadamba Shree Purasakar for his contribution to the Nepali literature and language. In 2020, Government of India awarded him Padmashri, the fourth highest civilian award of India for his contribution in literature and education. Shanta Das Manandhar
Shanta Das Manandhar (; 1934 – 14 November 2023) was a Nepalese pioneer of children's literature. He published more than 24 children's books. Two of the books were published in English in 1958–1959, one of them titled ''Some Essays''. He also translated English fairy tales into Nepali. Manandhar was born in Jhochen, Kathmandu and educated in JP school, and completed the Bachelor level. He worked as a teacher in Santi Bidyagriha of Lainchaur and worked as a principal in Bal Sewa Bidhyashram for eight years. Though he suffered from two heart attacks, he remained active in writing for various newspapers for children's columns. Shanta Das Manandhar died at Vayodha Hospital in Kathmandu, on 14 November 2023, at the age of 89. Amber Gurung
Shree Amber Gurung ( ne, अम्बर गुरुङ) (26 February 1938 – 7 June 2016) was a Nepalese composer, singer, and lyricist. He composed Nepal's national anthem, "Sayaun Thunga Phulka". Early life Amber Gurung was born in Darjeeling, India, where his father and former soldier in the British Indian Army, Ujir Singh Gurung, served as a policeman from Gorkha district, Nepal. His mother encouraged him to sing and compose as a child, and he taught himself to play Nepali, Indian, and Western instruments. He studied at Turnbull School, Darjeeling, where he fell in love with music while singing Bible Hymns. Career In the 1950s, he formed an association with Nepali poet Agam Singh Giri.He has wote over 100 song. Govinda Bahadur Malla “Gothale“ (Nepali:गोविन्द बहादुर मल्ल “गोठाले”; 1922–2010) was a writer of Nepal. He is most well known for his novel ''Pallo Gharko Jhyal''. He was awarded with Jagadamba Shree Puraskar in 2055 BS () for his contribution to Nepalese literature. Biography He was born on 12 July 1922 (29 Ashadh 1979 BS) to father Riddhi Bahadur Malla and mother Ananda Maya Malla in Kathmandu. ''Janakavi Keshari'' Dharmaraj Thapa (''जनकवि केशरी'' धर्मराज थापा) (1924 - 14 October 2014 ) was one of the most significant Nepali folk singers. He is most famous for his songs "Hariyo Danda Maathi (हरियो डाँडा माथि हह माले हह )", "Nepali le Maya Maaryo Barilai (नेपालीले माया मार्यो वरिलै)". Ali Miya (; 26 February 1919 – 4 August 2006) was a Nepalese folk poet. He was popularly known as "Lok Kavi". Early life Miya was born on 26 February 1919 in Pokhara, Nepal to father Din Mohammad and mother Jahuran Miya. He was one of the two surviving children of his parents who had thirteen children. He lost his mother when he was 18 months of age and his father at the age of two. He was raised by his brother and sister in law. Durga Lal Shrestha (born July 1935) is a Nepalese poet of Nepal Bhasa and Nepali. He was conferred with the title of ''Janakavi'' ( lit. people's poet) by Nepal Bhasha Parishad in 2003.
