Hebrew
Hebrew (; ; ) is a Northwest Semitic language of the Afroasiatic language family. Historically, it is one of the spoken languages of the Israelites and their longest-surviving descendants, the Jews and Samaritans. It was largely preserved throughout history as the main liturgical language of Judaism (since the Second Temple period) and Samaritanism. Hebrew is the only Canaanite language still spoken today, and serves as the only truly successful example of a dead language that has been revived. Eyal Yaffe (אייל יפה; born January 15, 1960) is an Israeli former basketball player. He played the guard position, and competed in the Israeli Basketball Premier League. Biography Yaffe is from Tel Aviv, Israel, and is Jewish. His father is Moshe Yaffe of Ramat Efal, Israel. He is 6' 3" (190 cm) tall. He served three years in the Israel Defense Forces. Eliezer David Jaffe ( he, אליעזר דוד יפה) (10 November 1933 – 25 May 2017) was an Israeli professor of social work specializing in philanthropy and non-profit management. He was Professor Emeritus at The Hebrew University's Paul Baerwald School of Social Work and Social Welfare. Biography Eliezer Jaffe was born in Cleveland Ohio. He came to Israel in 1957 as a volunteer, working in the ma'abarot (immigrant transit camps). He returned to the USA to complete his education, obtaining degrees in sociology, psychology, and criminology, and a doctorate in social work. Elaine Sarkin Jaffe (born in August 1943) is a senior National Cancer Institute (NCI) investigator at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) most well known for her contribution to hematopathology. She completed her medical education at Cornell University and the University of Pennsylvania, receiving her M.D. degree from University of Pennsylvania in 1969. After an internship at Georgetown University she joined NCI as a resident in anatomic pathology, and has been a senior investigator since 1974, focusing on the classification and definition of lymphomas. Jaffe's early work helped to provide a deeper understanding of the origin of lymphomas, especially follicular lymphoma. Her team notably elucidated the difference between T cell and B cell lymphomas. Edgar Jaffé (14 May 1866 – 29 April 1921) was a German economist and politician. Born in Hamburg to a Jewish commercial family in 1866, Jaffé worked in his family business in Barcelona and Paris. He then moved to Manchester and worked at his family's textile mill. He became wealthy and eventually moved to Heidelberg in 1900 to become an academic. During that time, he met Else von Richthofen, who he married two years later. At this time, he became a professor at Heidelberg University. In 1903, he bought and renamed the ''Archiv für Sozialwissenschaft und Sozialpolitik'', which he coedited with Max Weber and Werner Sombart. Over the course of the next decade, his marriage fell apart due to a series of affairs that his wife was having, including with Otto Gross and Max and Alfred Weber. Dov Yaffe ( he, דב יפה; 1928–2017) was a Polish Jews, Polish-born Israelis, Israeli rabbi, mashgiach ruchani, mashgiach, and leader of the Musar movement. Youth He was born at Vilna in June 1928. In 1935, at age 7, he moved with his parents to the Land of Israel and settled in Tel Aviv where he studied at and afterward at the Hebron Yeshiva, Hebron, Ponevezh Yeshiva, Ponevezh, and Slabodka yeshiva (Bnei Brak), Slabodka yeshivos.
