Jacques Rouvier
Jacques Rouvier (born 18 January 1947 in Marseille) is a French pianist. He studied at the Paris Conservatory with Jean Hubeau, Vlado Perlemuter, Pierre Sancan and later on Jean Fassina. He won two Premiers Prix (first prizes): in piano performance (1965) and in chamber music (1967). Rouvier was remarkably successful at piano competitions in his youth. He won the Grand prize at the Concours des Jeunesses musicales in Montreal in 1965. He took first prize at both the Viotti International Music Competition in Vercelli and the Barcelona Competition in 1967. He then took third prize at the Marguerite Long-Jacques Thibaud International Competition (ex-aequo with Vladimir Viardo) in Paris in 1971, securing an international career. In 1970 he founded a piano trio with Jean-Jacques Kantorow and Philippe Muller with whom he continues to perform. Vladimir Viardo
Vladimir Viardo (born 1949 in Krasnaya Polyana, Soviet Union), is a Russian pianist. Career The first steps in music were taken with his mother, the classical singer, voice teacher and pianist Nathalia Viardo. Viardo studied with Irina Naumova at the Gnessin State Musical College and later studied with Lev Naumov at the Moscow Conservatory, where he remained as a student for six years. Naumov would describe him as "my number one pupil". During this time, he was tenured as a soloist by Moscow Philharmonia (the primary music organization of the USSR). After obtaining a doctorate, he was immediately engaged as assistant professor with Naumov at the Conservatory. At the age of 21 Viardo took the third prize and the Prix du Prince Rainier at the Marguerite Long-Jacques Thibaud Competition, and in 1973 first prize at the Van Cliburn International Competition. Romain Descharmes
Romain Descharmes (born March 1980) is a French classical pianist. Biography Romain Descharmes was born in Nancy, France. He began piano studies at the Conservatoire régional du Grand Nancy, where he won, at age 14, a gold medal in the Hugues Leclère's class. In 1998, he moved to Paris in the CNR and CNSMDP. He continues his studies in an improvement cycle after studying in the CNSMDP where he won four first prizes (piano, chamber music, piano accompaniment and vocal accompaniment). He was studying with Jacques Rouvier, Christian Ivaldi, Bruno Rigutto, Jean Koerner and Anne Grappotte. Francesco Attesti (born 6 June 1975, in Cortona) is an Italian classical pianist. Biography He began practicing the piano at the age of 6 and gave his first concert at 11. In 1998, studying with Maestro Luigi Tanganelli at the Luigi Cherubini Conservatory of Florence, Francesco Attesti earned the highest grades in piano bestowed by that institution. Philippe Giusiano (born 1973, in Marseille) is a French classical pianist. In 1990, he took part at the XII International Chopin Piano Competition, where he obtained an Honourable Mention. Five years later, Giusiano took part in the XIII competition and made it to the finals along with Alexei Sultanov and Gabriela Montero. With the 1st prize being declared void, Giusiano and Sultanov shared the 2nd prize. Hélène Rose Paule Grimaud (born 7 November 1969) is a French classical pianist and the founder of the Wolf Conservation Center in South Salem, New York. Maurice Ravel
Joseph Maurice Ravel (7 March 1875 – 28 December 1937) was a French composer, pianist and conductor. He is often associated with Impressionism along with his elder contemporary Claude Debussy, although both composers rejected the term.
