The Prime Minister, literally the Minister of State ( French: ''Ministre d'État''), is the head of government of Monaco, being appointed by and subordinate to the Prince of Monaco. During their term of office, the officeholder is responsible for directing the work of the Monegasque government and is in charge of foreign relations. Rainier III
Rainier III (Rainier Louis Henri Maxence Bertrand Grimaldi; 31 May 1923 – 6 April 2005) was Prince of Monaco from 1949 to his death in 2005. Rainier ruled the Principality of Monaco for almost 56 years, making him one of the longest-ruling monarchs in European history. Rainier was born at the Prince's Palace of Monaco, the only son of Prince Pierre and Hereditary Princess Charlotte of Monaco. Jean Jacques Charles Ausseil (30 April 1925 – 4 February 2001) was a French Minister of State for Monaco between 1985 and 1991. He also served as ambassador to Uruguay (1975-1978) and Ethiopia (1978-1980). Biography Jean was appointed as Ambassador to Uruguay, where he succeeded Ambassador Français, handing over his accreditation on March 19, 1975. He remained in this post until March 15, 1978, when he was succeeded by Ambassador Le Guen.
