Jacques Charby
Jacques Charby (13 June 1929 – 1 January 2006) was a French actor, director, writer, and outspoken activist during against colonialism during the Algerian War. A member of the Réseau Jeanson or Jeanson network, he cooperated with Algeria's National Liberation Front in the fight for Algerian independence. He also wrote the first feature-length film chronicling Algerian Independence, entitled ''So Young a Peace'', which was entered into the 4th Moscow International Film Festival The 4th Moscow International Film Festival was held from 5 to 20 July 1965. Jeanson Network
The Jeanson network () was a group of French leftwing militants led by Francis Jeanson who helped Algerian National Liberation Front agents operating in the French metropolitan territory during the Algerian War. They were mainly involved in carrying money and papers for the Algerians and were sometimes called "the suitcase carriers" (''les porteurs de valises''), a notion from the French resistance movement during World War II. The famous communist anticolonialist activist Henri Curiel participated in the network, as did the forger Adolfo Kaminsky. The philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre and writer Simone de Beauvoir were supportive of the Jeanson network. National Liberation Front (Algeria)
The National Liberation Front ( ar, جبهة التحرير الوطني ''Jabhatu l-Taḥrīri l-Waṭanī''; french: Front de libération nationale, FLN) is a nationalist political party in Algeria. It was the principal nationalist movement during the Algerian War and the sole legal and ruling political party of the Algerian state until other parties were legalised in 1989. The FLN was established in 1954 from a split in the Movement for the Triumph of Democratic Liberties from members of the Special Organisation paramilitary; its armed wing, the National Liberation Army, participated in the Algerian War from 1954 to 1962.
