Jackie Law Jr.
Jackie Law Jr. is a former professional association footballer who played for Queen of the South and Stranraer. Law Junior was born in Kelloholm and went to school at Dumfries Academy. Law Junior signed for Queen of the South in 1963 from Dumfries amateur club Greystone Rovers. In playing for the ''Doonhamers'' himself and his brother, Lex Law, were following in the footsteps of their father, Jackie Law Sr. In Law Junior's career he made 125 Queens appearances and scored 34 goals for the Doonhamers. On 24 October 1964, Lex and Jackie Jr. both scored in the same match in the 7–1 win versus Stenhousemuir at Palmerston Park. Jackie scored three and Lex scored one goal in this match. Stranraer ( , in Scotland also ; gd, An t-Sròn Reamhar ), also known as The Toon, is a town in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. It is located in the historical parish of Inch in the historic county of Wigtownshire. Kelloholm
Kelloholm is a village in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. It has a primary school, a public house and several shops. Kelloholm lies next to Kirkconnel and the two have begun to merge. Kelloholm was originally constructed to serve the many mines in the area, all of which have now closed. Dumfries Academy
Dumfries ( ; sco, Dumfries; from gd, Dùn Phris ) is a market town and former royal burgh within the Dumfries and Galloway council area of Scotland. It is located near the mouth of the River Nith into the Solway Firth about by road from the Anglo-Scottish border and just away from Cumbria by air. Lex Law
Lex Law was a former Scottish professional association footballer, who spent a decade with Queen of the South as an inside left. Queen of the South Lex Law is from a family with multiple Queen of the South connections. His father, Jackie Law, Sr, played for Queens in a war interrupted career from season 1937–38 to season 1948–49. Jackie Law, Jr was Lex's brother and played for Queens from season's 1962–63 to 1966–67. Lex Law signed for Queens in 1964 from Kello Rovers. Law was a strong running, versatile player who played in multiple forward positions. He played for the Scottish Professional Youth Team in 1965 v Italy and Yugoslavia in the UEFA Under Championships in Germany. Law was also the subject of numerous transfer enquiries during his career but remained loyal to Queens with his last season at Palmerston Park being 1975–76. Palmerston Park
Palmerston Park is a football stadium on Terregles Street in Dumfries, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. It is the home ground of Scottish League One club Queen of the South, who have played there since 1919. South of Scotland League club Heston Rovers have shared Palmerston since 2013. The stadium has a capacity of of which 3,377 are seats. History Palmerston Park was first opened in 1919, when Queen of the South were formed, although football had been played at the site since the 1870s. The site of the ground was formerly a farm called Palmers Toun. This is on the Maxwelltown side of the River Nith in Dumfries. Jimmy McKinnell, Tom Wylie and Willie McCall were all sold to Blackburn Rovers around the same time by Queen of the South. This combined with the sale of Ian Dickson to Aston Villa helped to fund the purchase of Palmerston Park in 1921 for £1,500.
