Lex Law
Lex Law was a former Scottish professional association footballer, who spent a decade with Queen of the South as an inside left. Queen of the South Lex Law is from a family with multiple Queen of the South connections. His father, Jackie Law, Sr, played for Queens in a war interrupted career from season 1937–38 to season 1948–49. Jackie Law, Jr was Lex's brother and played for Queens from season's 1962–63 to 1966–67. Lex Law signed for Queens in 1964 from Kello Rovers. Law was a strong running, versatile player who played in multiple forward positions. He played for the Scottish Professional Youth Team in 1965 v Italy and Yugoslavia in the UEFA Under Championships in Germany. Law was also the subject of numerous transfer enquiries during his career but remained loyal to Queens with his last season at Palmerston Park being 1975–76. Jackie Law, Sr
Jackie Law Sr. (died 1959) was a professional association footballer who played as a striker for Airdrieonians and Queen of the South. After spending five seasons with Airdrie, Jackie Law Sr. requested a transfer with Queen of the South the club to gain his services just after the club's George McLachlan managed tour to Europe and Algiers. Law was soon club captain and popular with fans. Like the rest of his contemporaries his professional football career was put on hold in 1939 due to World War Two. Post war, Scottish football on a national scale was resurrected in 1946, the year Law was given a testimonial by Queens. The testimonial match was against Preston North End at Palmerston Park. His last season at Queens was 1948-49 after which he retired from professional football. Law scored 71 goals for Queens placing him 14th on the club's all time goal-scoring charts. Jackie Law, Jr
Jackie Law Jr. is a former professional association footballer who played for Queen of the South and Stranraer. Law Junior was born in Kelloholm and went to school at Dumfries Academy. Law Junior signed for Queen of the South in 1963 from Dumfries amateur club Greystone Rovers. In playing for the ''Doonhamers'' himself and his brother, Lex Law, were following in the footsteps of their father, Jackie Law Sr. In Law Junior's career he made 125 Queens appearances and scored 34 goals for the Doonhamers. On 24 October 1964, Lex and Jackie Jr. both scored in the same match in the 7–1 win versus Stenhousemuir at Palmerston Park. Jackie scored three and Lex scored one goal in this match. Kello Rovers Football Club are a Scottish football club, based in the town of Kirkconnel, Dumfries and Galloway. Nicknamed ''Super K'', they were formed in 1903, and they play at Nithside Park. Palmerston Park
Palmerston Park is a football stadium on Terregles Street in Dumfries, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. It is the home ground of Scottish League One club Queen of the South, who have played there since 1919. South of Scotland League club Heston Rovers have shared Palmerston since 2013. The stadium has a capacity of of which 3,377 are seats. History Palmerston Park was first opened in 1919, when Queen of the South were formed, although football had been played at the site since the 1870s. The site of the ground was formerly a farm called Palmers Toun. This is on the Maxwelltown side of the River Nith in Dumfries. Jimmy McKinnell, Tom Wylie and Willie McCall were all sold to Blackburn Rovers around the same time by Queen of the South. George Cloy is former professional footballer who played his entire 12-year senior career with Dumfries club Queen of the South as a utility player. Cloy also played for Kello Rovers, Threave Rovers, Dalbeattie Star and Crichton. When later interviewed for the ''Queens'' website, Cloy listed Ted McMinn, Allan Ball, Tommy Bryce Tommy Bryce (born 27 January 1960 in Johnstone) is a Scottish former footballer. Crawford Boyd from Kilwinning is a Scottish former professional footballer. Crawford Boyd is best known for his time at Dumfries club, Queen of the South The defensive cornerstone of the 1970s returned to Queens during the promotion campaign of 1980–81 to make a total of 321 first team appearances.
