Jack Zander
Arthur Jack Zander (May 3, 1908 – December 17, 2007) was an American animator whose career lasted from the "golden age" of theatrical animation into the 1980s. Biography Jack Zander was born on May 3, 1908, in Kalamazoo, Michigan as Arthur Jack Zander. His first job in Animation was at the Romer Grey Studio in 1930. One year later he joined The Van Beuren Corporation followed by Terrytoons in 1936. He joined the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer cartoon studio in 1937, and worked on MGM cartoons based on comic strips, including '' The Captain and the Kids'' and '' Count Screwloose''. He also worked on Harman-Ising cartoons at MGM, including ''The Little Goldfish'' (1939), ''Goldilocks and the Three Bears'' (1939), ''The Mad Maestro'' (1939) and the ''Barney Bear'' series. Kalamazoo, Michigan
Kalamazoo ( ) is a city in the southwest region of the U.S. state of Michigan. It is the county seat of Kalamazoo County. At the 2010 census, Kalamazoo had a population of 74,262. Kalamazoo is the major city of the Kalamazoo-Portage Metropolitan Statistical Area, which had a population of 335,340 in 2015. Kalamazoo is equidistant from Chicago and Detroit, being about 140 miles (225 kilometers) away from both. ''The Night Before Christmas'' is a 1941 American one-reel animated cartoon and is the third ''Tom and Jerry'' short directed by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, produced by Fred Quimby and animated by Jack Zander, George Gordon, Irven Spence and Bill Littlejohn. It was nominated for the 1941 Academy Award for Best Short Subject: Cartoons, but lost to the Mickey Mouse short film ''Lend a Paw'', making it the only ''Tom and Jerry'' cartoon to lose to a Disney film. This third cartoon uses what has become the basic "cat stalks mouse" premise, but also hints at a softening in Tom Cat's character: when Jerry is out in the freezing cold, Tom worries about him, indicating that the rivalry between them may not be entirely a fight to the death. The Big Cartoon DataBase (or BCDB for short) is an online database of information about animated cartoons, Feature film, animated feature films, Animated television series, animated television shows, and cartoon Short film, shorts. The BCDB project began in 1997 as a list of List of Disney animated features, Disney animated features on creator Dave Koch's local computer. In response to increasing interest in the material, the database went online in 1998 as a searchable resource dedicated to compiling information about cartoons, including production details such as voice actors, producers, and directors, as well as plot summaries and user reviews of cartoons. In 2003, BCDB became a 501(c) non-profit corporation. On June 24, 2009, it was announced by creator Dave Koch on his BCDB forums that the site had 100,000 titles.
