Jack Sellers
Jack Sellers (July 27, 1944 – October 24, 2016) was an American professional stock car racing driver and team owner. Sellers was a long-time competitor in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West, formerly known as the Winston West Series. Racing career Sellers made his K&N Pro Series West debut in 1985 when the series was still known as NASCAR Winston West Grand National Division. He made his first start at Sonoma, driving a self-owned Oldsmobile. During his Rookie year Sellers raced part-time in the West Series. Sellers was sponsored by Coca-Cola as his family owned the Coca-Cola bottling plant in Sacramento. Sellers started racing full-time in 1987, qualifying for 6 of the 8 races that season. He also scored his first top-ten finish, when he finished seventh at the Spokane Grand Prix Course. Sellers finished tenth in the point standings that season. Brickyard 400
The Brickyard 400 was an annual NASCAR Cup Series points race held at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, Indiana. The inaugural race was held in 1994 and was the first race other than the Indianapolis 500 to be held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway since 1916. In its inaugural running, the Brickyard 400 became NASCAR's most-attended event, drawing an estimated crowd of more than 250,000 spectators. The race also paid one of NASCAR's highest purses. From 1994 to 2020, the race was held on the 2.5-mile oval, for a distance of 400 miles. The Subway 400 was the second race of the NASCAR Winston Cup Series season until 2004, held a week after the Daytona 500. This 400-mile (644 km) annual race was sponsored by Subway and was held at North Carolina Speedway (''The Rock'') since 1966. From 1966 to 1995, the race distance was 500 miles (805-km) which was shortened to 400 miles starting from the 1996 season. Until the 2004 Nextel Cup season, two annual races were held at Rockingham. After the 2003 season, the fall race (the Pop Secret Microwave Popcorn 400) — which was held in November — was moved to California Speedway, to be held on the lucrative Labor Day weekend. 1987 Daytona 500
The 1987 Daytona 500, the 29th running of the event, was held February 15 at Daytona International Speedway, in Daytona Beach, Florida. Driving his Coors/Melling #9 Ford Thunderbird, Bill Elliott had a dominant week, winning the pole with a record speed of 210.364 mph, winning the Busch Clash, and finishing second in a photo finish to Ken Schrader in his Twin 125 qualifier before winning his second Daytona 500. After numerous crashes in other races that week, the 1987 Daytona 500 was relatively incident free, with only 4 cautions for 15 laps, and no serious wrecks. The 1987 NASCAR Winston Cup Series was the 39th season of professional stock car racing in the United States and the 16th modern-era cup series. The season began on February 8 and ended on November 22. Dale Earnhardt of Richard Childress Racing won the championship for the third time. All American Speedway
All American Speedway is a 1/3-mile NASCAR-sanctioned paved oval racetrack located in Roseville, California, Roseville, California, United States. The track first began operations in 1954. The track was originally a quarter mile long, but was renovated before the 2008 racing season to its current length of one third of a mile. Between the years 1977 and 1982, five NASCAR ARCA Menards Series West, Winston Grand National West Series events were held at the track. 2016 NASCAR K&N Pro Series West
The 2016 NASCAR K&N Pro Series West was the sixty-third season of the K&N Pro Series West. It began at Irwindale Speedway on March 19 and concluded at All American Speedway on October 15. Chris Eggleston entered the season as the defending drivers' Champion. Todd Gilliland won the championship, thirteen points in front of Ryan Partridge. Gilliland also became the youngest champion in West Series and NASCAR history, winning the title at 16 years and 5 months. The record for youngest champion in all of NASCAR was broken by Sam Mayer's 2019 East Series championship when he was 16 years, 3 months, and 8 days.
