Jack Regan (hurler)
Jack Regan (born 7 August 1995) is an Irish hurler who plays as a full-forward for the Meath senior team. Born in Summerhill, County Meath, Regan first played competitive hurling at juvenile and underage levels with the Kiltale club. He eventually became a member of the club's senior team, and has won five county senior championship medals since 2012. Regan made his debut on the inter-county scene at the age of sixteen when he was selected for the Meath minor team. After winning an All-Ireland medal in his debut year, he had two further championship seasons with the minor team. Regan subsequently joined the Meath under-21 team, winning an All-Ireland medal as captain in 2016. By this stage he had also joined the Meath senior team, making his debut during the 2014 league. Kiltale GAA
Kiltale GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association hurling club based in Kiltale, in County Meath, Ireland. The club was founded in the early 1920s, then disbanded in 1934 but reformed in 1946. The club does not play Gaelic football; the county's football competitions are contested by the other club in the parish, Moynalvey. The club has won the Meath Senior Hurling Championship nine times, most recently in 2018, when it completed a five-in-a-row of county titles. It regularly features in the latter stages of that championship. Underage sides representing the club are regular winners of county titles in lower age grades. The Meath County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Coiste na Mí) or Meath GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Meath, as well as for Meath county teams. Football County team The first notable Meath team was the Pierce O'Mahony's club from Navan that represented the county in the All-Ireland final of 1895, in the days when the competition was played between the champion clubs from each county. O'Mahony's lost to Arravale Rovers of Tipperary by 0-4 to 0-3. Summerhill, County Meath
Summerhill () is a heritage village in County Meath, Ireland. It is located in the south of the county, between Trim and Kilcock on the R158 and west of Dunboyne on the R156. It is the site of one of the most important battles in 17th century Ireland, the Battle of Dungan's Hill. Up until 1667, the village was known in English as 'The Knock' or 'Lynchs' Knock' (phonetic renderings of ''Cnoc an Línsigh'') as it was the ancestral home of the Norman-Irish Lynch family, whence came the Galway merchant family of the same name - one of the "Tribes of Galway". County Meath (; gle, Contae na Mí or simply ) is a county in the Eastern and Midland Region of Ireland, within the province of Leinster. Hurling
Hurling ( ga, iománaíocht, ') is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic Irish origin, played by men. One of Ireland's native Gaelic games, it shares a number of features with Gaelic football, such as the field and goals, the number of players and much terminology. The same game played by women is called camogie ('), which shares a common Gaelic root. The objective of the game is for players to use an ash wood stick called a hurley (in Irish a ', pronounced or ) to hit a small ball called a ' between the opponent's goalposts either over the crossbar for one point or under the crossbar into a net guarded by a goalkeeper for three points. Meath Senior Hurling Championship
The Meath Senior Hurling Championship is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association competition organised by Meath GAA among the top hurling clubs in County Meath, Ireland. The winner qualifies to represent the county in the Leinster Intermediate Club Hurling Championship, the winner of which progresses to the All-Ireland Intermediate Club Hurling Championship. The first senior hurling championship was held in 1902 and Navan Hibernians finished as the inaugural winning team. In 2008, Kilmessan became the first Meath club to win a Leinster hurling club championship, when they won the Intermediate title. The GAA Hurling All-Ireland Minor B Championship is an annual hurling competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association for the youngest competitors (under-18) in Ireland. It is sponsored by the Electricity Supply Board and therefore officially known as the ESB GAA Hurling All-Ireland Minor B Championship. The GAA Hurling All-Ireland Under-20 (previously Under-21) B Championship, the second tier competition in hurling is an annual series of games for male players under the age of 20 and is organized by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). The 2019 competition was the first at the Under 20 age level. The final is currently played in April or May and the winning county receive the Richie McElligott Cup, which is named in honour of the late great Kerry stalwart Richie McElligott of the Lixnaw club and was first presented in 2015.
